Pretty much any of the Final Fantasy games. All have a generally good story that keep you interested.

Advance wars, the games in the series just kept getting better, then they made Days of Ruin and it went downhill

The closest i've ever had to an 'emotional' reaction to a game was the first resident evil. i remember playing in my friend pig's room with a blanket over the window so it was pitch dark. i was all alone playing for about 3 hours. it really started to get to me. i had to go out in the sun for awhile.
as for emersion, i have to go with the GTA series(3,vice,SA). i can play for hours with out getting killed or arrested. it just kind of clicks for me.

The ICO games. Especially Shadow of the Colossus. Once you begin to apreciate it, it's an endless river of joy. And I can't wait for The Last Guardian to be released.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey Of the Cursed King.
The only DQ game i've played so far *i still want to play other ones* and it was beyond epic.Everything about this game seemed to be perfect, story, gameplay, characters, music.
In fact the soundtrack alone was enough to make me cry tears of joy sometimes.
don't believe me? Hear for yourself.

I agree, especially the OST was awesome.
I somehow never really "got" the older Dragon Quests, although I have 3,4,5 and 7.
The story was somewhat original for a DQ, the battle system was one of the best turn-based ones I've ever seen, although it was kept rather simple. Oh yeah, alchemy ftw. The only game that can keep up in that regard is Rogue Galaxy; although the Atelier Iris games had a similar system, it wasn't as convenient to use imo.

Have you ever played a game that really made you feel drawn in to the story and really makes the emotions flow, a game that makes you really care about the story and characters, a game that you don't just play because it's fun or cool?Right as I read the paragraph, the first thing that poped into my head was Metal Gear Solid. lol. Anyway, other games there were like that were Final Fantasy 10, Legend of zelda: wind Waker, adn um Shadow of the Colossus. Well that's all I can think of right now, anyway, I'm sure there's more.

Valkyria Chronicles is the last game I played that really made me care about the characters in a genuine, not-connected-to-gameplay way.

Mine has already been mentioned and it's Dragon Age Origins. Hope that I can get the expansion pack, want to know what happened to Morrigan after defeating the archdemon...I'm gonna find her no matter what...

Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Valkyria Chronicles, Zelda (most of them), Some of the Tales games, Persona series, oh, and all the Kingdom Hearts games.

Far Cry 2.
Now before you get mad let me explain. Since I'm assuming nobody here will ever play this game let alone beat it I'll say why this game is sad.

Final Fantasy X really touched me in many ways. Persona 4 made me realize made me wonder if I could really win over my shadow if it took form. Tales of Vesperia kept me captivated with its intricate storyline and gameplay.
