Gamestop Going out of Business?!
-1
Ya know I heard rumors flying that GameStop is going to close down next year or two if the 2 new game systems for the XBOX 720 & PS4 aren't gonna use the playback feature & playing used games anymore. What are your reactions to this topic?

Something about the new consoles not having disc drives, right? Dunno. Not everyone will go swap their current consoles for 720/PS4 right away, so I think not.

i doubt the game companies would actually stop using the disc drives because a lot of people would complain, and the fact that they will stop using disc drives is just a rumor

yeah right!i doubt that Gamestop will go out of business anytime soon. Even if the new consoles don't have discs what about the current consoles that people have now. I'm pretty sure a lot of people will still be using them and the main source of games is Gamestop.

Isn't Gamestop already doing digital downloaded things for consoles?
They would probably just change to that.
If anything, the independent video game stores will go out of bushinessess (which is bullshit).

I hope they go out..... They tried to buy 7 Ps2 games off me for $10
OT: I think sooner or later online downloading will be the "next thing" I rarely even go out and buy games anymore.

I don't use Gamestop I hope Game and Gamestop disappear I hate that preowned games have over taking them from selling new games about 90% of the games are preowned. The prices don't make any sense they sell a scratched up disc at the same price as a new game. I've only been tempted to buy a game preowned twice and each time I regretted it.
If they stopped using disc drives I don't see how a lot of people would be able to buy and play games cause downloading isn't an option for every one not forgetting that the file sizes can be big as well.

Honestly, After reading many infos about gamestop's pre-owned prices, it is stupidly high. At least the usual prices for pre-owned games market in Japan is decided by the market itself.
So, I hope that gamestop dies and stops the price control.
Abut Downloads and Disk Drive, I would still prefer if the keep doing the Discs. I don't have a problem with downloading, but storage size is the most important thing

Ive read rumors about this too, I heard that if the newer consoles dont support used games, gamestop might not even carry them, I hope this isnt the case, because many times I havent liked some of the games I bought used and I was able to return them.

If this was the case and the games would have to be downloaded now, wouldn't that hurt people who have limited bandwidth usage with their ISP?
And like Sneaky had said, I like buying used games to try them. If I don't like it then I can return it.

With E3 around the corner its basically rumor season. All the blogs and news sites are pumping out the rumors to hopefully get more hits in time for there coverage of E3. The anti-used game has always been a big rumor for new consoles but honestly i doubt it will happen.
Yeah Game directors and Publishers have been pining for this to happen for a good while, some even going as far as to Blame the fall of single player campaigns on the used game market
But in the end i doubt it will go through, Sony has stated and shown in the past that they are not fans of making quick digs at consumers pockets by blocking out things like used markets. Im not so sure about Microsoft though... considering they are working on a system that charges for skipping and FW on DVR's.
As for the topic on disc media. I am definitely still for Disc media, updating my games on PS3 and steam alone usually brings me really close to reaching my monthly cap. I shutter to think what it would be like being forced to choose which game i may want to play and purchase every month due to my ISP's strict guidelines.

I don't really get why people trade in their games I've always thought that the majority of trade ins are stolen. I've never traded a game in and I am still able to buy all the games I want though some times I do miss a few and I don't have a lot of money I just don't buy most games on release day because I think it's a rip off I wait for the price to lower.
I think they probably have been fixing the prices at some point because it hasn't always been like this game retailers used to be the best place to buy games they still claim to be and they probably only make sales still from parents and CE games. There isn't much point in a game retailer that offers the worst service available and most of their sales patter has turned into what you expect from a car sales men or mobile phone sales men. I remember when I could ask them does this game suck and they would tell me if it did.

Well a employee of a store telling you if a game sucks lies entirely on that employee and not the company at all. AFAIK gamestop employees dont get a commission on sells so i dont see why they wouldnt... unless they didnt play the game and just said it was ok to get you off there back :P

They didn't praise every game they were quite honest now if you ask they'd say that it's excellent this game will suck your dick.
I've heard from some past employees that they have been told to sell the products they want to sell and try to get customers to change their purchase. The biggest thing I can remember them telling employees to do was if some one came in to buy a 360 to tell them that the PS2 is a far better console and get them to buy it because the PS3 was coming out soon so they wanted to get rid of them so people would have to update their console baring in mind that most purchases are made by parents and they are easily persuaded cause they tend to not know any better.
More recently they have tried to get me to preorder editions of games that don't exist and have giving false promises and when I've tried to buy a game they make up some excuse of why the purchase can't go through like they can't find the disc or sorry your voucher says you got nothing do you have your recite (but if it won't scan they can impute the code manually it will work) they tell me to come back tomorrow and the price is higher.
