Girl gamers

I personally hate the term girl gamer (or female gamer or gamer girl). And I hate people who seem to feel some kind of need to tell the whole world that they are girls who play games (see picture). There's people on xbox with some text like "I'm a girl and I play games, so what?" in their profiles description. And then there's those girls who pose half naked in pictures with games to get even more attention to the fact that they play (or at least act like they play) games. Am I the only one who hates women who call themselves girl gamers all the time and seem to think that nowdays a female who plays games is somewhat rare? Its not that rare, many females play games and people arent really interested (or at least the people I have disgussed about this dont really care if the person they're playing with online is a guy or a girl).

And because of those girl gamers so many people think that all females who play do it just for the attention and arent actually any good at playing games.

so, opinions on the stereotypic girl gamers and girls who play games in general?

I started hating them when some girl send me a message on FIFA 10 after a match telling me that "you got beat by a girl. How does that feel?"

Seriously, I don't give a shit about your gender. My sister and some friends play videogames too. Someone should tell them we're not in the 80s anymore. I blame all the white knight virgins who can't help but lose themselves everytime someone mentions the word "girl" online.

Lol @ the pic. Anyways, I've come across a few girl gamers (Some are my psn friends) and I never have any problems with them. I enjoy their company just for the sake of variety. Gamers are gamers regardless of gender, race, etc.

Thats right. Nothing wrong with girls who play games (I play games too), but your generic girl gamers who have the need to tell the whole world they're girls who play games. Girls who are just gamers are ok, but generic girl gamers arent D:

Well fortunately I've never met those types. I only get annoyed with one of my psn friends when she starts bitching after I beat her ass in Tekken. She also complains about being bored a lot....

Women who do that shit are fucking retards. They're just a bunch of attention whores. There are just some things you should keep to yourself. Back when i had the shitbox please fix me when every i played online there would always a profile with the title "Gamerchiq" , "Insert girl name here" , lovely anglexxx ,etc(you get the idea). So out of curiosity i would view the profile and and their bio would say for example "I'ma gurl,so what" or that they would send you pictures of themselves for 1 months, XXX MS points , and so on. Also some enjoy flirting w/ the other players in the same lobby. Be careful of "Gamer girls" because some of them are traps aka men who pretend to be girls for the attention. I still remember to this date back in 08 or so when COD 4 was hot, that there was this person named Jessica XXXX(don't remember the rest) was actually a guy. I lol'd when i heard him talk, i was like WHAT!? before i forget you know how you can put a 4 letter clan tag in just about any game, some even put "Girl" as there clan tag for the attention. We've all seem them before so you should know.

Your gender should have nothing to do with an activity.

I can understand turning the term "Policeman" to "Police Officer". But "Gamer" is not a gender specific term.

The women, or girls, who do that are only craving attention. It's pathetic.

I have a female friend who plays S4 League. She constantly raeps me almost in perfect *while playing on a touchpad of her notebook* so i'm kinda neutral to girls now. On a side note: I noticed that mostly just Girls play S4 League on a pro level.

And take pictures of yourself half naked posing with new hot games.

My class is filled with girls playing games and wanting to become game developers just like myself. Gaming has nothing to do with gender.

hmm well there are only 2 girls who play video games the one plaing half life 2 and all that fps things and WoW and the other one plaing LoL and other MMORPGs (but I dont think she is playing seriously enough) but well I didnt know that there were attention whores who game... that pretty much dirties the gamer communities

I hate running into other girls like that cause then I feel like shit when they start saying I'm a girl to get attention. But I mean if someone asks me if I'm a girl I'll say yea but I don't bitch and make a fool of myself in live or psn. Most of my friends on live are guys anyways cause the girls I run in to do that shit your talkin about.

Yeah, but about 70% of pro female characters are actually guys. And its proven on S4 League that female characters are slightly better than male characters with the counter sword. And we have the classical reason that no one wants to stare at a man's ass all the time.

But for some strange reason, when I play MMOs and even on S4 League, people automatically assume I'm a girl even when I use a male character. Some guy on DFO refuses to believe I'm male because my female gunner is dressed in a bartender avatar.

hahaha funny because i just played against a girl gamer on MW2 and she was annoying as hell...not only do they rub it in when they win or what not but it's a major piss off when they think they are the best when all they do is spam tubes and corner camp! ARG!

I wouldn't think that girls that like to play games are at all rare. Humans naturally love to play games, yes even girls. I think the only reason we see them as rare is because video games aren't seen by society as very "ladylike." I am both glad that there are people that are learning to stop abiding by these laws and do what they find fun, as well as annoyed that they are constantly flaunting this to us as though they were some kind of albino alligator that can stand on one leg. Oh well, I'm sure they will get over it eventually, and seeing a girl gamer will be just as common as seeing a boy gamer.
