Girls and games

I know we've all met girls who either states they dislike video games or they do enjoy them but most of them aren't very good.

Now I have nothing but respect for the female gaming population,but my question is:Why are girl gamers with awesome gaming skills hard to come by,I just recently met a girl who says she was bad since the whole "walk and aim with two different joysticks"deal came out so are the mechanics of a modern day controller easier to us males or maybe from the ones who dislikes them but secretly good at them to anyone's unknowing?

Help shine some light on this problem.

I think its like over 100 girls tat play games.. oni 1 is good.. but over 5000 male.. 400 is good at it.. some girls r good at game.. but just not tat much.. I heard best player in DMC 3 is a girl...

This guy is right, Brea is still probably the top DMC 3 and 4 player around, I'm still in awe that such a hardcore player is actually a female and I'm not sure much DMC players who are male can keep up with her consistent playstyle, she had almost exploited every thing there is in terms of DMC 3/4 combat if you've seen her recent DMC 4 vids.

But I agree with the OP's post, some of the best yet rare kind of good players are actually girls and its nice to see them making this kind of progress to the gaming community, though that's never known publicly. If there were a solid community of girl gamers who can show they can deliver in video games that I know about, I'd support them fully.

When I played Mangafighter, the best player was a girl in Florida with IGN "Mimi-chan" On S4 League, there are a lot of female players who are PRO ranked. Its just that more guys play video games. If the same number of girls played video games, we'd have around the same number of good players.

I agree with you we need more girl gamers to balance out the guys,I wonder what it is about games that girls don't like in the first place maybe if something were to change more would take interest in them.

You don't "need" if they want to play games, they play games. Why are you so obsessed in playing games with girls? They are no different than any other player. Some suck, some are good.

I believe it's less about the games themselves and more about "gamer culture." It appears to me that the problem is that gaming was—and I guess by some people still is—viewed as a male activity. It doesn't help that the sexism of the participants in this male dominated activity discouraged girls from joining the club. On the bright side, the current trend is toward more acceptance of females in gaming. The less people in this community are surprised that girls play games and can actually be good at them, the better off gamer culture will be in terms of gender equality.

I'm not obsessed I just believe in equality plain and simple.

There is generally equality in gaming. Unless there's a cash shop, almost everything is determined by skill and time.

I agree it does come down to skill and we should have respect for our fellow gamers no matter who they are.

I've met some girls that can kick alot of butt on video games.

I don't care about what is said about girls, I just know that there are games that have girls as the top players like Starcraft 2.

There are as many truly good female gamers are there are female gamers. I mean, what, are YOU especially good at videogames? I mean, really? You're a "pro," right? NO. You're not. You're as average as the rest of us, I'd wager. And most female games play as well as you do.

Now, why aren't there as many professional female gamers? It could be because it's an image thing; pro gaming teams would rather use big, strong, relatable men rather than soft, squishy women. Maybe it's because women just aren't as competitive as men. Then again, I did see something about an all-female Starcraft 2 team, so maybe I'm pulling facts out of my arse.

Point being, "average" is always the average, regardless of gender. That's sort of what makes it an average. I can attest that there are as many godawfully shit male players as females; probably MORE, on account of the fact that fewer women will stick with multiplayer gaming cos they get heckled to death otherwise. So yeah, if you go the OTHER way from the average? Males are probably WORSE.

In my opinion the girls who do play video games and and awful don't care about the unspoken competition that gamers have between each other. I'm one of the girls who love video game competition, and I have chick friends that just don't care if they when or lose when it comes to it. I can't say I'm one of the top players but I will compete like crazy to kick some ass in Assassin's Creed and Disgaea.

So I think it's a matter of drive, so girls have it and most girls don't.
