Girls Beating Guys at Videogames

Background Info:
I was playing Super Smash Bros Melee with a guyfriend not long ago. I chose Link and he chose Falco, it was a close match and in the end, I won. I was happy and said, "you were great, thanks for a great game!" After that he would never play games with me. I kept bugging him about this until he finally told me, that he didn't like loosing to a girl and even told people that I cheated.
I even had another incident where I beat a different guy at another game and he didn't take it well that I beat him (not as bad as the above guy). Told him pretty much the same thing as I did with the other guy and still had crappy results.

I've always loved video games and I don't think of myself as an amazing gamer, because I've been beaten quite a bit myself, but do guys not like when a girl beats them?

Your friends sound really insecure. Personally, I don't really care. Most of my friends are girls so I'm used to playing a lot of video games with them. I'm also use to losing a lot. Winning is a foreign concept to me. I always tend to play down to the level of my opposition. I'm way to nice sometimes.

Girls being good at gaming is a fucking hot trait tbh. It's sort of a tomboyish/nerdy thing, I guess? And such girls are seriously valuable, personally. If a girl would beat me up in my competitive games I'd waifu her forever.

I'd say for them to up their game. Gender doesn't mean shit.

But in all seriousness though, girl gamers are starting to become less rare, dude needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
At least you don't come off as one of those girl gamers, you actually come off more humble than that.

Yeah, girl gamers who brag when they beat you really annoys the hell out of me for some reason. I should really ignore them like I do with guys, but I just can't. Getting a message from someone named "pinkprincess87" after a loss and telling you that "you got beat by girl" completely kills my gaming mood. They tend to pop up a lot in sports game for some reason.

You just ruined the only thing that made them superior to you. Video games. A lot of nerds are insecure and since they're incapable at most other things "skill" at video games becomes paramount to their masculine identity.

Plus, I'm guessing your playstyle was very aggressive and you put it to him. He probably has a misguided opinion that women are docile, submissive, and just not very good with their hands.

But really, if people can't stand losing to a girl, then they shouldn't play with them.

For me they seems to pop up in shooters and fighters.
I don't play shooters often, but when I do I don't try hard. But it gets annoying when I hear agressive guys and girls bitching about shit I have an extreme lack of fucks to hand over.

For fighters, I don't get many aggressive girls, a lot of them are very strong and competitive though. I find it more fun that way anyways, whether your competing or teaching from either gender's perspective.

I will agree with you on your point concerning insecurities over superiority. You either get them to not wanna play with you, or you get them to be attracted to you.

I learned my lessons on that, years ago. If you see a girl or a child entering a tournament, you destroyed them if you can. Because they aren't there to waste their money, they're there to win just like you.

To me losing to a girl or anybody for that matter doesnt matter to me its a game its meant to be play and have fun its not meant to be always won by you.

A win is a win, a loss is a loss regardless of gender, race, or age. Now if cheating were involved, I wouldn't stand for it. Being at a disadvantage though, that I can understand. Still, it's not something to get upset about.

The girls in my guild could beat me both in game and in real life and I wouldn't care one bit. Yes, I'd feel a little sour about losing, but I'd soon get over it. I lose quite often as well.

Whenever I lose to friends, I would always jokingly say "I call cheats!!! Hack!!! Savefiles!!!" and then they would say I just suck and that I'm a noob, and that even the NPC's could beat me, and that I suck a LOT and then laugh (yeah, harsh things are said to me on a daily basis) but in the end, they don't really mean all of it. And then if they were to lose, we'd say the same to him/her but we wouldn't really mean it.

The two fellows you were playing with need to calm down, they'll probably feel really stupid after they had some time to cool off.

the guys you were VS were just sore losers and can't take a loss. I battle online and win and lose in fighting games. I bet some of them were female. It does not matter what the gender and such of the person is. It is the skill. How good you are at the game. You were better, so you won.

[font=verdana][color=green]When it comes to this matter, the gender of the opponent doesn't matter to me at all. What matters is how they take their win from me. If they say something like "Bad luck, it was fun. Let's play again sometime" then I'll be all right with it, no doubt striving to beat them next time. But, if they were to rub in the victory - especially if they were girls playing up the whole "girl-beating-boy" charade - then I wouldn't exactly appreciate their words and just won't play with them again.

So, the guys you played with do need to calm down and just enjoy the game. If they continue to be such little bitches about it, then you just don't need to play with them. Simple as.

As long as you weren't arrogant, it's never your fault. Idiots like them need to get their head out of the Middle Ages. Hell, I'd be positively impressed if I were beaten by a girl for some reason, even though I know gender doesn't mean shit in gaming.

But onto this topic, I don't mind girls beating me, in fact, i find it a refreshing change to getting my ass handed to me by tnvs... But, In the events where the girl is new to the game, and is getting bored/ sick of playing, i like to let them win, keep them interested and having fun. No point playing heaps and losing constantly. I let them have their fun, and i have my fun :D

I've gotten my ass handed to me by professional girl gamers at side events at E3 and it never bothered me any more than loosing to random people online. About the only people that get on my nerves are people that make excuses for loosing.

The guy you were playing with either is a sore loser or got his pride hurt. If the latter then someone needs to tell him that being good at video games isn't exactly the manliest thing in the world. Just tell him to man up and get over it already, its just a game.

haha.. girls tat r good at game r hot.. I had a fren tat is pro in devil may cry... I try 2 beat the boss for like 1 week.. she beat it in her first try.. almost fell in love tat time... ^^
