All around discussion about sniping in games. What is your recent sniping experience in a game? Fav sniper rifle from war games based in past, present and future?

yeah i played GOW. My weapons of choice where Longshot and Lancer

but I'm not sure if you could say it has the best sniping experience

Bad Company 2 is definitely the best game for sniping. It's considerably more realistic than most games and will help make you a better sniper in other FPS.

As for favorites:

M95 in Bad Company 2 was probably my favorite, but a T88 Sniper(QBU-88) w/ Red Dot was pretty fun too.
Intervention was my primary rifle of choice in MW2 with the M(21)14 EBR for mid-range stealth.
I also really love using the Hunting Rifle/Sniper Rifle in the L4D games.

... I love sniping.

For me its gonna have to be the GOL Magnum from BC2! (I like the sight on the SV98 though)

I havent sniped a whole lot in games TBH!

Medal of Honour the sight made me feel really claustrophobic, The rifle in Killzone had this really weird orange tint to it that totally didnt help, I enjoyed the Mauser 98K on WAW but I didnt use the sight with it, (Snap shooting just for fun) MW2 the sight just bounces all over the fucking place *Breathes in* so id just prefer using a regular assault rifle with the iron sights.

My vote has to go to the AWP also. Good times...

My dad liked to use the VSS Vintorez from Bad Company 2 since it has a Silencer and is Fully-Automatic But I'm more of a one shot kill kind of guy.

Though Halo sniper rifle was good because it was fast shooting, but it didn't have a feel to it. Too bad sniping in lots of games have much to be desired. Though Red Faction: Guerrilla was okish. Theres better sniping opportunities then in Fallout 3.

Though with sniper rifles i prefer that they are like the M95's scope

I liked using the Mauser 98K in WAW as well.

Well that's a shame. Somebody doesn't play enough PC games.

I'm going to say Barret 50.cal just because i like it so much.

I agree but just seeing how a locust head get blown to pieces is just awesome

I like to use this sniper in Army of Two. I have not played the 40th Day, yet. Though like in GoW and Halo, the sniping experience is lacking.

Mauser K98k as in sniper rifle period. It is the most nostalgic and well designed rifle of its time. There were others but many were just copies.

Game for sniping though? I don't know, each game has its own way of sniping and it falls to preference if people like more realistic or not. I personally don't have a fav. and adapt to sniping gameplay of that game. Personally not really that much of a fan of sniping all the time. If I have to say though, I'm more of a fan of traditional realistic type of sniping for games.

Futuristic sniper? I don't remember which sniper it was or what game but in one game I played a long time ago it used to just shoot and instant explosion. Killed everything in its radius. Something like that would be the best sniper rifle I suppose.
