Oh gawd, I've tried sniping people out of the chopper on several occasions, but just about always manage to miss. I managed it once out of pot-shot and thought it was the most amazing thing ever. It would be awesome to somehow become magically proficient at it.
Edit: That video made me giggle like a school girl.

I've done that a few times before on the islands map that was first in the vid (I can't remember the maps name, sue me.). Managed to get a headshot on the pilot of a blackhawk that was flying straight to me. The chopper crashed into the water, where I proceeded to snipe the people trying to swim to shore. In a different match, but on the same map, I killed another pilot, causing the blackhawk to crash into an enemy tank.

Badass indeed.
I've never hit the pilots, only the gunners.
The last part made me laugh.

so any of you got fallout new vegas?
I just love the Anti-Material Rifle
I just dislike the fact that you have to be strong to shoot accurate... thing was I had killed all the Deathclaws at the certain spot where Deathclaws are highly populated. They won't ever take them out... and I didn't have a lot of nice clean kills.... the scope would bounce... but the fact that I still got a lot of headshots made me feel so pro XD
after playing F:NV for a week I went back to playing Black ops online... thing was that a lot of the time I was getting killed... I guess online just hates me...
lol I even had a match where I got 5 quick scopes all at once... but the damn theater thing didn't load the full game so I could save it DX
anyone here planning to get Bad Company 3?

Oh btw did you guys know the bullet sway for snipers is back in BF3? Now you need to hold your breathe to steady your aim, it's gonna be fun and kind of challenging with that back.

Well that's what I heard from a Machinima vid. Bullet sway is back, confirmed classes would be Assault, Support, Engineer, and Recon.
This time the assault class also carries around a defib and med-kits too, if my memory of the vid is correct. It's to get people to focus on helping downed/injured teammates more than just focusing on the fight around them.

Damn. Just when I was getting used to placing my shots with drop in Bad Company 2. Oh well, back to the drawing board as they say.

Fun fact about the SV98 on BC2, with a 4x scope and magnum ammo, it's deadly long and mid range. I found it easier to hit targets with the 4x cope than with the regular scope on the SV98.

The Combat Medic class has the nice stipulation of no undermounted equipment if a defibrillator is equipped. I was afraid of blooping medics before I found that out.
SV98 is just the next sniper rifle to be nerf'd. One this I hate about DICE is that more often than not balancing is just weakening the fuck out of the guns that get complained about the most, which just makes the next most annoying gun the best (along with most used)
I'm glad that the sway is back, but it won't be as bad as you guys might think. Remember that prone is also back, and that your rifle has a bipod. You just can't be standing and have un-moving arms anymore. Snipers fire from a position, after all.

My dad finished all of Medic and engenieer. He has one gun left in assault =D
well anyways
so no one knows what weapons that might be in the game?
edit:
I just now realized that the PTRS-41 from WAW isn't actually a sniper but an Anti-tank Rifle... Saw a youtube video of someone using it in real life. Much like the .50 cal Barrett, there is no way someone can use that rifle standing up.
PTRS-41
.50 Cal Barrett
then again when you think about it your usually not suppose to fire these weapons like that in the first place.

Much like the .50 cal Barrett, there is no way someone can use that rifle standing up.The definition of a sniper rifle is poor. Pretty much any rifle that has a centerfire cartridge with a telescopic sight that is designed for accurate placement of bullets at excessive range constitutes as a sniper rifle.
Generally, it is only accepted as such when it is meant to be used against human targets. So by that standard, the video game legend of the Barrett is not a sniper rifle either. The Barrett's practical application has, and always will be, an anti-material rifle. You don't use anti-material rifles on fleshy targets. It is a waste. >.>
The only gun that really should get away with misuse in game is the CheyTac Intervention. While it is clearly designed in game with the .408 CheyTac (which is designed as a dual anti-personal and anti-material round), it is easily fitted to use round that are designated as anti-personal such as the .375.

In life and death situations I don't think it's a waste, do you?
And the only time the Barrett is used like how it is suppose to be (as far as I know) in the campaign of MW2 and Medal of Honor

If you are in the position of immediate danger when you are scoping out with the Barrett then something clearly went horribly wrong with the mission at hand.
It isn't as though it is against the Law of War to fire a .50 caliber at a human target, but it is a waste of expensive ammunition. I don't think I have to tell you how devastating a .50 caliber weapon would be to a human body. The same conditions would be satisfied with a lot less powerful round.

I personally think the situation isn't what matters. As said in the video the guy chose the Barrett because its big enough to fly as straight as possible even at long distances.
Did you watch the video I linked?
And I think if it was me I would pick the stronger weapon to make sure I can get the job done. As they say its better to be safe then sorry right?

I can about guarantee you he didn't have a Barrett M82 on him with the intention of using it directly on a human target. He likely choose it because of it's penetration power when used against armored vehicles, walls and other man made objects.
It just isn't practical to use an anti-material rifle on line of unsheltered enemy forces. The extreme weight of anti-material rifle, coupled with extreme kickback even when prone makes it extremely unpractical.
As for range, those are so highly variable even to soldiers who use them every day. The Barrett's effective range is 1800 meters, over a mile, but that isn't the greatest range of modern day telescopic rifles. So, it came down to what options he had at hand, coupled with his personal choice.
Besides, I have a hard time taking this video seriously. It's clearly dramatized crap from the History Channel. I'm not trying to say that wasn't an accurate play on a realistic situation, but what is dramatized is still dramatized.

You know we can keep debating this but I don't got all day =/
So you played Fallout New Vegas? I asked everyone on this thread before but no one answered...
