Global/General Sniper Rifle Discussion

Hmmm I would prefer a sniper rifle that was quiet and yet powerful. Something that's not bolt action, since having to reloading after every shot is a bitch. Also if it had a lot of ammo capacity.
@jag:
you mean like how you can customize weapons in WaW?

I think that the K98 is just the best bolt-action rifle overall (Enfield rifle - Best bolt-action NEVER added to games) but i still think the Spring was a better sniper weapon. (Springfield used a Mauser action, Basically is a Mauser) And of course for best rifles of that period we cant forget the M1 Garand and CarbineCarbine best rifle of the period? Are you sure? Better pray that whoever your firing at doesnt have a thick coat on! :(

I'd prefer a bolt-action DSR-1, since the action makes for a more clean shot and the .338 Lapua round that it fires is widely regarded as the most precise round in the world. It's also more portable than it's anti-material big brothers (M82A1 and M95)
Smaller barrel size also accommodates for more medium-range encounters that have phased out the popular term "sniping". The DSR-1 is a step up from a DMR.

Personally i like bolt action because you can gain a certain rhythm in shooting them. I've always like the flow of how shooting one plays out. Of course IRL this doesn't work unless your pro at reloading.

Well a .22LR (smaller round than the carbine)can still pierce a skull at a mile, so I don't really see why the round is given so much shit. The carbine obviously worked.
As for bolt action rifles, most modern day bolt-actions don't require shell-by-shell loading, and simply use a magazine. The reason for using bolts isn't due to rhythm or anything of the sort. A bolt action simply provides a more precise shot than the gas-assisted reloading of semi-automatic rifles. After all, the people that actually use bolt-action rifles in the military (legitimate snipers) are given targets of opportunity to strike, and will likely never even have to reload their rifle, nor would they need the rapid ROF offered by a semi-automatic DMR.

I never heard of AWP, can you guys explain?
It was the sniper rifle of choice for Counter Strike. That thing is a won hit wonder, back then for fps there wasn't many more satisfying then the sound it gave off when you fired

I like the Barrett m99 .416 my self because of the round it fires. It needs to have clip though. It goes over 2,000 yards but I would still have the k98 is still the best way to if your with in 800m. The best way to go with the k98 is to just put a 1x scope on it like the Germans did normally.

though in BC2 they don't automatically reload after one shot, so you have to zoom out which is a bitch when your shooting at more then one guy (not close enough for mortar strike)

thats one of the many reasons sniping in bc2 is actually fun and not just annoying as shit.

Agreed. I had to get used to it at first because I was spoiled by the Intervention in MW2, but it definitely adds to the realism and enjoyment of BFBC2.
