What do you guys think about using a sniper in left for dead?
I never used a sniper, just a shotgun.

I love using the Hunting and Sniper rifles. Works for me because a lot of online players don't seem to want to so I'm willing to be stuck with the task of picking off Smokers/Jockeys/Spitters. Well not so much Jockeys. I hate killing Jockeys. -_-

Carbine best rifle of the period? Are you sure? Better pray that whoever your firing at doesnt have a thick coat on! :(Now that i think about it your def right on that fact :/
Personally i like bolt action because you can gain a certain rhythm in shooting them. I've always like the flow of how shooting one plays out. Of course IRL this doesn't work unless your pro at reloading.
though in BC2 they don't automatically reload after one shot, so you have to zoom out which is a bitch when your shooting at more then one guy (not close enough for mortar strike)
thats one of the many reasons sniping in bc2 is actually fun and not just annoying as shit.
well for me its a bitch and is the one thing I dislike. everything else is fine. other then the game having glitches sometimes
bullet drop is vital and games without it after playing BC2 will seem sorely lacking. hopefully in the future games will take the coriolis effect into consideration as well.

I can't play L4D2 due to vidcard limitations, but in L4D I use the sniper rifle more often, and it's a thing of beauty. The ability to shoot through multiple zombies, and the satisfaction of headshooting the zombies and the special infected is quite satisfying. Too bad the reload rate is slow as hell, and can't be used effectively when you're surrounded, but in return, all normal infected go down with one shot. I've taken out a witch with a sniper rifle at long range.

I highly doubt any shot in any multiplayer game in the market today or in the near future will have maps large enough to merit inclusion of the coriolis. That's for mile-plus shots. OF: Dragon Rising was ridiculous and that was just one square kilometer.
More likely that they'd take heartbeat, specific breath timing (not lol hold breath CoD style), and wind speed/direction into account. Only game I've known to put so much effort forth as to do even that is Sniper: Ghost Warrior and Sniper Elite.

i really meant single player games where you could have ridiculously huge maps, not so much multiplayer Battlefield type stuff.
also im pretty sure in BC2 there are easily points over a mile long you can snipe from. the islands map in particular. sniping guys on the buildings waaaaaaaay far away from the middle island kicks ass.

M-98 Widow from Mass Effect 2.
Dammn, did that thing packed a punch. It was one shot-one kill for most enemies...and with headshooting, all upgrades and in hands of Infiltrator with Assassination Cloak...it was a thing of beauty. You can even take out Harbinger (the games toughest foe) in single shot. Or two, at higher difficulties.
And it gives that feel of wielding and overwhelming amount of power in your hands.

Was just playing Fable 2 and I was using this special skill that lets you zoom in.(so IOW sniping) Though it made it so that if you move the targeting system (the thumb stick) it resets. Whats the point of sniping if you can adjust your view?
Though I'm not sure if any of you played Fable 2. It seems to me its lets Gorey then number one.
I like gore in killing games, so that gives me another reason to like Fallout 3.
Also sniping in CoD:WaW was shitty. There wasn't any really good sniping spots and the map's were so small that you would have had a better time just using a machine gun with a scope.

None of those maps are larger than one kilometer, I can assure you. Probably not even corner to corner. Hell, I'd bet that if you shot from the first Attacker spawn to the last Defender base on Arica Harbor, it would be ~500-600 meters. (That shot is impossible, by the way. No LoS. Plus you'd probably be out of the AO by then.)

When it comes to video game sniping, I'm strictly into bolt-rifles such as the M24, Springfield, etc. Knowing that I can only fire one bullet at a time forces me to make every shot count. Also, it's just so very satisfying to get a headshot from the other side of the map when you get it using only one bullet.

ok
Ive played Ghost Recon and Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm pretty much the same game, just different maps, and the sniping is lacking (well all the weapons are pretty much the same).
though What do you guys think about the entire Call of Duty Series?

Using the bolt-action rifles without a scope makes you a man. Although, the PTRS-41 is still freakin' fun to use at times if it wasn't so damn loud.

he.
Yeah it would have been more fun if my friend didn't scratch up my disc.. not even a week after I bought it.
Mostly everyone used machine guns.. so it was hard to use bolt action, and for some reason even if you hit them in the head or chest some guys just didn't go down. having good sniping spots was shit, because once you shot you were detected. So I would end up having to look for a new spot then get shot in the back by someone with a machine gun.
