I don't understand the concept of quick scoping.
How many of you sniper's snipe conventionally or quick scope?

Heres to all you people with your hi tech "intervention".
I play BFBC, for the obvious reasons, don't snipe much, but when in the modd, the M95

I've been playing a bit of COD:MW2 lately. I was wondering whats the deal with;
Hard-scoping
and
Quick-scoping
I am a natural Hard-scoper
Even when I try to QS, I either end hard-scoping or Semi-Scoping or No-Scope for kills. Its got to be extremely hard to no-scope long distance enemies let alone QS.
So far I think the best Weapon to QS is Intervention, due to the fact its the strongest rifle and is more likely to get 1-hit kills.
I also got to play Halo: Reach. Its pretty good, though the sniping I did could hardly be called sniping.. More fast passed one-hit kills in close range.
Edit:
Played Halo:Reach all the way through. The sniper in campaign seems the same like the other Halo's, except a tad bit slower so you can pace yourself better. Also its a bit more accurate.
I went back to Fallout 3 and tried my hand at sniping again. Its a bitch that you can't steady the sniper rifle. There isn't much variety in snipers either. There are only 3 special snipers and they all look the same. Only the stats are different. The usual capacity for snipers are 5 per clip. The scope on the magnum and the sniper rifle are the same (I think there's an scope assault rifle too in one of the packs)... I think The zoom are the same too.
The high-tech Gauss Rifle is far better, its scope looks better and it doesn't sway and bob like the regular sniper.(if you have 100 energy) Its capacity is 1 per clip, but its far stronger then the sniper and usually result in a 1-hit kill unless your going up against something non-human that is bigger then a human. Hell even super mutants fall before its might. (while sneaking of course.)

I'm a natural hard-scoper too.
I don't get why people quick-scope or do those 360 spin no scopes.
Are they trying to show off by doing that?
For Modern Warfare 2 I use the Intervention because when I fire it, it has "feel" of a sniper rifle. The .50cal, WA2000, and M21 these rifles I personally don't like, firing these is just weird, and the scopes basically jump way off target with each shot.
With Bad Company 2 the M24 is my favorite, the scope is the easiest to aim with
(M24 Sniper)

and rifle itself is good overall.
And even though Bad Company 2 has a large variety of sniper rifles, the Russian ones are hard to aim with.
(SV98 Snaiperskaya)

(SVU Snaiperskaya Short)

I just don't know how to aim with these.

In COD:MW2 I tend to play Hardcore so I don't base which sniper I use based on strength, Since I like going for 1-hit kill and I try not to waste ammo too much. I have no-scope with all snipers but I think the one I liked best was intervention. Just the other day I had some awesome long distance sniper kills. I wish snipers didn't bob and sway. Which is one thing I like BC for. Though I don't play that much, since EVERYONE snipes and also because I dislike the way the scope looks.
I've been trying Medal of Honor. Which came out not too long ago. Let me just say its flawed. The scopes are shit. I have indeed got a good amount of kills but... I should have a lot more. Lots of times when I should have gotten kills... I don't. Also people always got to move in my way at the last sec and get us both killed. I missed lots of kills that way too. Even standing on stuff.... trying forever to get a good spot, then end up slipping off it for some reason... It also doesn't look as good as BC. Its bull that it takes forever to get attachments to upgrade stuff, and the fact that the semi-automatic sniper rifle doesnt even come with a scope, but with a red dot... like, wtf a sniper rifle that has no scope but a red dot instead?

For MW2 I generally play Ground War and only snipe on an appropriate map, like Wasteland, Derail, and Rundown. The intervention is the only rifle I've used for sniping.
And again for BC2 I'm usually sniping on every map and use the M24 because I'm really familiar with the scope. The long range sniper cat-and-mouse battles with other snipers are is where the fun really starts with BC2.
The bastards hide in the most convenient places for them, bad for you, and when you're looking for them, all you'll see is a tiny dot poking above the hill.
As for Medal of Honor it doesn't look that great. Even though it's from DICE, it looks too rushed.
And as for putting Red Dots on sniper rifles, especially the semi-auto ones, I think it makes sense. Those rifles are probably meant for close-quarters rather than long ranged engagements.

They start you off with a red dot and you have to work your way up to a scope. They are like normal rifles rather then Snipers. So far the semi-automatic rifle gets a acog like scope. Not sure if you get sniper scope yet.
here is how it goes.

You don't have to listen to the guy. I can get 1-hit kills with bolt-action sniper rifle just fine.
see bolt-action comes with a sniper scope, while semi-automatic comes with red dot. Of course bolt-action is stronger. But for a sniper scope.. It doesnt zoom in quite much. It could just be the fact that the TV I play on is big. But everything looks so damn small and I can barely see anyone too far away. Like in Battle Company, but a lot worse. Also like Call of Duty it seems like they thought it would be a good idea to put in the bobing thing. Well at the very least they let you hold your breath. The game itself doesn't look nice and there are lots of stuff that makes sniping bad. One thing I really dislike that this game inherited from Battle Company is the fact that you can't lie down.

Unless you have something on the semi-automatic ones, I can't really say anything about them.
And as for the commentary, I didn't want to listen to it but I did anyways. All he really did was talk about the bolt-action, ammo type he used, and rambled on like an idiot.
Not much to help with your complaint about the scopes.
But the sniper scopes for bolt-actions in Medal of Honor look like an ACOG from MW2.

Sniper Scope
The guy talking in the dot sight video kind of annoys me... The main reason to have a sniper is for long range kills. I'm sure semi-auto is just meant for snipers who like closer combat. But I just find it urking...
for COD and BC actually looks like your looking through a sniper scope, as in it actually zooms in. While this one is...
Edit:
Since the videos are recorded of the screen you can't tell how bad it is. I have a big TV that is set 5 feet in-front of me. The screen in these videos seemed more zoomed in then how it is for me when I play. Like how you can adjust a PC screen display, my tv seems very small.
Edit2: oh and I looked over it, the visual isn't so bad on certain maps while on others it horrid.

I mainly use the GOL Magnum because the bolt speeds acceptable, Its got good power and its not as fucking loud as an M95!
The M95s a beast of a weapon but I really dont like to use it, I find it to be too fucking loud and the bolt speed/reload is cripplingly slow. (Its got hardly any bullet drop though which is a plus for some but not for when you've compensated for bullet drop) :S
I tend to switch around my snipers now more than I did before to suit the situation, I like using the SV 98 when im gonna snipe near to where the enemy are (Very quiet weapon and very little firing signature, Hard to tell where it was fired from)
Then if I need more punch the M24... Great all round weapon! (Fun but not as kick ass as the GOL)
I hate VSS faggots though. (At least guys who use the M95 are willing to stick their necks out and give you a big badda boom, Nothing gayer than a silencer)

I kind of want to see if they are going to put the M-110 ^ into any new games coming out.

They of course have the M21-EBR in COD:MW2.
One thing I notice while playing online. When your playing with a bolt action and miss you then wish you were using a Semi-auto. But then when your using a semi-auto and not get the one-hit kills you end up wishing you never switched. I also noticed that those who use bolt action, or slower snipers don't tend to waste so much ammo. While those using semi-auto tend to waste full clips trying to get one guy. With a bolt-action you try not to miss, while when you use a semi you lose that sense of urgency and just have at it.

I just don't know how to aim with these.
It's rewarding when you do learn to use them. Mostly trial and error to figure out which line of the reticle to use based on distance. The SV-98 is my favorite. Mostly because it's the fastest reload. I won't deny my lack of skill when it comes to sniping, and the SV-98 gives me the best opportunity for a follow-up shot while teaching me to be better overall at sniping. That and for some reason I just magically seem to do the best with SV-98 especially since I know how to use the scope, and I can get a lot of Marksman headshots with it.

Sniper Scope
From what I've seen and heard so far in the vids, the Red Dot and ACOG seem very appropriate for the semi-auto ones and the standard sniper scope suits a bolt-action more, that's my opinion.
And the rifle and scope you use usually depends on the map you're playing and the situation you're in. Like the M21 in the first and second vid with the Red Dot and ACOG, since it's semi-auto it was more suited to the urban and close quarter areas.
Where the bolt-action rifles in the third vid have the standard sniper scope on them, they're more suited to long range roles than mid and close quarter encounters. Plus a bolt-action works best in open or well-elevated areas as well.
Go ahead and correct me if you feel that what I'm trying to say is wrong or have any thing else to add to this.
