Global/General Sniper Rifle Discussion

M95 is too loud though. It's pretty easy to pinpoint where a sniper using the M95 is, plus the long reload can put you in a nasty position if you aren't really good with your sidearm. I really only find the M95 to be good when I'm running a Red Dot on it and/or no scoping people at close range. It's especially fun to do that to all the players running around the game with shotguns.

Sniper Scope
From what I've seen and heard so far in the vids, the Red Dot and ACOG seem very appropriate for the semi-auto ones and the standard sniper scope suits a bolt-action more, that's my opinion.
And the rifle and scope you use usually depends on the map you're playing and the situation you're in. Like the M21 in the first and second vid with the Red Dot and ACOG, since it's semi-auto it was more suited to the urban and close quarter areas.
Where the bolt-action rifles in the third vid have the standard sniper scope on them, they're more suited to long range roles than mid and close quarter encounters. Plus a bolt-action works best in open or well-elevated areas as well.
Go ahead and correct me if you feel that what I'm trying to say is wrong or have any thing else to add to this.
I'm just saying a sniper rifle wheter its semi or not should have a normal sniper scope. Also the normal sniper scope in this game looks more like an acog and doesnt have the same zoom like other sniper scopes in other games.
Edit: I went back and looked and found that the multi-player sniper is different then the solo player.
@Sneaky, so is the new sniper better in new vegas?

I never heard of AWP, can you guys explain?
[/quote]
To comepletely answer you question, the AWP actually never existed, The AWP was the AWM (Artic Warfare Magnum or the L98). In Counter Strike they used only a few of the weapon's real names.
Edit:
Okay, a little bit wrong T.T the AWP was a police version, full name: AWM-P

Old version of counter-strike had real weapon names but they had to change it to fake names due to licensing issues. It's like how some racing games have Ferrari models but use weird fake Italiano names.

Finally, after 3 months of playing BC2, I finally got the platinum star for the M24 and almost there with the M9.
With 1027 confirmed kills, 6216 shots fired, and with an accuracy of 44.34%.
(checked my stats for the weapon)
Now I'm switching between the GOL Sniper Magnum and the M95.

I wish COD had big maps like BC2 (well that big but BC2 Maps look barren half the time).
I wish there was big forests maps like Ghost Recon.
Has anyone tried Call of Duty: Black Ops snipers yet? I hate the fact that the set up is like MW2, 4 snipers and only 1 Bolt Action.
@sat: Meh, compared to you I am shit lol.

BC2 maps only look barren cause most of the time everyone is hiding somewhere, unless you're playing Rush and the M-COM stations are really close to each other, then it's just total hell.
And Reno, sniping in BC2 takes a lot of patience unless you already know how adjust the scope to hit your target, then it's just a waiting game to see a stationary target or trying to hit a moving one.

They all feel similar to me. It's completely a matter of personal preference. None of them really stand out over their counterparts, with the exception of the L96A1. As far as I can tell the L96A1 is the only rifle capable of a 1 hit kill to the stomach.
I will admit that it irks me that you can chamber the next round of the L96A1 while still scoped because that is wholly unrealistic, but I'm assuming they set that in place to balance it with the other semi-automatic rifles.
Other than that I find it funny that the PSG1 is the classified rifle when it is inferior to the Dragunov and WA2000 in terms of recoil, while all three semi-autos have the same damage and apparently have the same damage multipliers.

I guess it is suppose to be a jack of all trades. Also it seems they messed with perks and stuff. I hope I can get my hands on a copy soon. If you you play please tell me what you think.
I havent played BC2 in months, so I have no clue what your talking about.

I enjoy it. They definitely did well to fix some of the issues with MW2. They did well to fix the ridiculous nature of the knifing class in MW2 while still giving knifing classes something to play with, what with the Ballistics Knife and Tomahawk as well as Steady Aim Pro shortening the recovering time of knife lunges.
The ranges of shotguns are less dramatic (although I never cared to much because despite popular believe shotguns do have good range in real life, movies taught us that they can't be used more than five feet away). At the very least the Olympia has superior range, but only is pump action with only two chambers, so it's good balance.
Perks are all pretty good and have their uses. I'm not terribly fond of Flak Jacket. Seems overly powerful to me, but it's only REALLY useful in objective modes and is often replaced with Scavenger and Ghost in TDM. Ninja is broken as shit though. Combination Ninja and SitRep Pro from MW2? That's ridiculous, but whatever, again only really useful in objective modes.

Got to try Black ops. Did well, but the basic sniping class sucks. Doesnt help that I was playing with my father. Hope I can try again soon.
The whole buying system is pretty good. Makes it so that even low level players can get good weapons. I just wish they add more weapons to the list in the future.

It seems that sniping isn't that bad in Black Ops, as seen here in a vid by Hutch. It's not AS bad as many are making it out to be, but it's still not right. For one the hit indicators feel really weird to me. Torso shots in particular. Often when I'm using the L96A1 I don't bother with aiming for the head if I'm running-and-gunning, but often miss shots that should have clearly hit them in the chest, and I can't believe that latency is enough to be responsible for how often it happens. Likewise, it seems like the hit indicator for the head is huge. I've narrowly missed the head several times and have gotten headshots, or even hit the neck and gotten headshots.
Other thing is all the maps are clearly devoted to CQC. There are usually one, if any, decent sniping positions on a map, and as a result they are heavily protected and staying anywhere near the vicinity is a one way ticked to death. Black Ops desperately needs a map like Wasteland. Sniper fun up top, and if you don't like it you can rage with the tubers in the bunker.

Not saying I havent gotten kills while sniping. Its that with the new settings and stuff its harder to just be a sniper. Based on what I played, and the fact that I only played on split-screen really... might be the reason why I hate it so much. Like when you play multiplayer with your friends at home without xboxlive (but you two actually played split-screen which can have up to 4 players). It really sucks. At least when you play Spec ops on MW2 the scope looks bigger. But with the way set up split-screen for Black ops... well lets just say its damn near impossible.
