Black Ops

Primary: L96A1 w/ Variable Scope
Secondary: CZ75/ Full Auto Upgrade

Equipment: Claymore
Lethal: Semtax
Tactical: Flashbang

Tier 1 Perk: Ghost (Pro)
Tier 2 Perk: Hardened (Pro)
Tier 3 Perk: Second Chance (Pro)

That would be my normal Sniper class in Black Ops, but thats mostly because I play on my dads account since I don't have my own xboxlive. So I have to use what he has.

I havent been playing for awhile. I did play a couple nights ago. I played co-op with my dad online. I ended up using a class like this:

Primary: FN-FAL/ ACOG Scope
Secondary: CZ75/ Full Auto Upgrade

Equipment: Claymore
Lethal: Semtax
Tactical: Flashbang

Tier 1 Perk: Scavenger (Pro)
Tier 2 Perk: Hardened (Pro)
Tier 3 Perk: Second Chance (Pro)

Not really a sniper class but its a good midway class I think. Since I play half screen with my dad normal sniping is very difficult.

In the past I have talked about the new Medal of Honor. I said the online sniper scope and gameplay was meh. Well I got to try the campaign and I have to say its pretty damn good. There even is a part where you use this long distance sniper on a mountain side.

it allowed to switch from normal and two types of thermal views. The thing was awesome. Too bad it was so short.

Much more then I can say for a similar part in MW2 where it allows you to take a glimpse of that gameplay. However in Medal of Honor they give you more opportunities to use it.

Greatest sniper rifle of all time is the hugely overpowered railgun from MGS4, or the Jakobs Bessie from Borderlands (That shit is ridiculous)

I've been playing Mass Effect 2 and I mostly use the semi-auto sniper

M-97 Viper
It has lots of ammo and it only takes a few shorts to get a kill. I hardly use any of the other weapons unless enemies come up close, but even then I sometimes use this sniper because its still accurate at point blank range even if you dont look down your sights. It also has low recoil.(2nd sniper you get in the game)

The

M-92 Mantis
Is also good but I noticed that it runs out of ammo quite fast. I was usually getting one hit-kills with this weapon but its mostly good on human size targets.(first sniper you get in the game)

I didn't get to use theM-98 Widow much due to that I decided to take the assault rifle during that mission. I figured that the semi-auto was good enough for me.(you can either pick this sniper or an assualt rifle or a shotgun)

I can't get M-29 Incisor sadly. I don't have xboxlive

I also tried using the Focus Rifle in Halo:Reach and while it looks cool and has a nice scope. It sucks as a sniper since it takes forever to take down an enemy. Can't even get a headshot with this thing.

Mass Effect 2 wise, I loved using the Infiltrator class with either the M-98 Black Widow or the M-29 Incisor. The M-98 is just amazing and rips through most enemies in one hit on the easier difficulties. However, it does lose its value in the harder difficulties because of it's stopping power no longer making up for its lack of ammo.

M-29 was just fun. It's not terribly practical, but fun. It can be somewhat useful for an Infiltrator because of the ability to slow down time which allows you to control the burst better. It is kind of the opposite of the M-98 as it arguably has more value in the harder difficulties because it is one of few weapons with high bonuses against all resistances (x1.25 Armor/Shields/Barrier), but then again one can argue the M-12 Locust or Collector Assault Rifle is better.

I don't often play Halo, but when I do I rarely pick up sniper weapons. I mean sniping in video games is a far cry from realism, but Halo games don't even try. Halo has some of the worst sniping mechanics I've ever seen in a FPS, so I don't even bother.

I wouldn't say its the worse mechanics. I mean, its playable at the very least. I've gotten some great shots off while playing the game. Or is that not the point your trying to make? Well I haven't played as many shooters as I would like.

Has anyone tried Fallout: New Vegas? I hear there is an anti-material rifle in that game. I was told the sniping in that game is pretty good.

Nah, I was just more or less uselessly spouting off statistics on the weapons, pay me no mind. XD

As for New Vegas, nope. I refuse to buy that game until a GOTY edition comes out with all of the DLC. I got lucky and got all of the Fallout 3 DLC for only 2,000 MSP during the 2010 New Year's specials. I'm not paying potentially more than the game for the amount of DLC it will likely have. <.

The sniping is great in New Vegas. There's more scoped weapons and weapon mods can make some of the weaker weapons quite useful. I've been playing the game with the Varmint Rifle, mostly. I got it modded so that it's silenced and has a night vision scope. It's a great weapon for steathily taking enemies out without alerting his friends in the process (something I do to all of the Legion and Fiends I come across). I bought the regular sniper rifle but didn't care for it as you can't really silence it, only reduce it's noise. Sadly I haven't gotten to the anti-material rifle yet, but I'm probably gonna stick to my Varmint Rifle and a healthy dose of Psycho until then.

The anti material Rifle from Fallout New Vegas, add incendiary ammo and its the best gun in the game

M-98 Widow in ME2. Texmod allows me to have it in black. Can still get 1shot kills on Insanity with Hardened Adrenaline Rush with Disruptor Ammo.

Yeah, I kind of realized after I made my initial response to sniping in Mass Effect 2, that I had forgotten about all of the abilities that augment with the rifles in that game. My comment about the Widow is totally stupid now. Ha, on well, I'll edit it later.

Though I can't make my preferred classes yet being only level 8 and only have 300 money. =/

Since Sniper is hard for me only ever playing by myself... Not very good for online playing... I usually only get 1 kill per death.. usually get killed after getting someone... Though I need to get better, The bobbing of the scope and such is a bitch. I decided to not use zoom scopes because I would sometimes lose kills while trying to aim and shoot because the scope zooms out right when I shoot and thus missing.

I decided to use a A class which is between Assault and Sniper.



Though Right now I can't use this class solely because I just prestige'd.

I plan on trying to get better at sniper.

I don't like the sniping in black ops, it's ridiculous and lag makes it worst.

My cousin literally fired 4 direct shots at a guy with the l96 and not even a single hit marker. There wasn't any lag, the crosshairs were right on the guy too.

but not just with snipers.... though it does indeed happen a lot with snipers.

What other kinds of games have you played that have some form of sniping?

Only other game I played that had sniping besides any CoD game and BC2 was Killzone 1.

The sniping on it was cool except for the scope which had an orange tint to it.
The tint was perfect for night time but in the day it makes sniping stupid.
