Graphics whore, Graphics whore everywhere

So like i was playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for the third time, on the Xbox360
at my cousin's games store. And suddenly this Highschool students came around
and talk about graphics n' shit and said " LIKE DUDE, THERE IS A NEW GAME CALLED
RAGE??? THE GRAPHICS IS SO AWESOME " i wasn't pissed off just yet, cause i am
happy that the kid is playing RAGE. Off course that RAGE has a beautiful graphics,
and the way you move around is freaking smooth as hell. And also, the gameplay is fun.

And here is where i pissed....

@Student no.1 : Dude what games are you buying???
@Student no.2 : Gears 1, so i could follow the story. to Gears 1 to 3
@Student no.1 : Pffft Gears 1 and 2 has a horrible graphics, i where you i pick
gears 3 cause the graphics of that game is so eye candy.
@Me at the corner in my mind : WAIT WUT???? YOU SAY GEARS 1 AND 2 ARE HORRIBLE BECAUSE OF THE GRAPHICS???? AWWWW HEEELLLL NOOOOOO!!!!

I play Darksiders, the game's graphics is not great i feel like im playing
a Ps2 game. But the gameplay is so fucking fun as hell and addicting. So you say
that, you cant play Gears 1 and 2 cause the graphics is not HD STYLE??? that is
fucking tragic man i feel sorry for the kid >______>

There are indeed some games that are sooooo crappy that you can't stand it... However I can deal if the game itself is good. My friend pissed me off one time when I was play .hack gu and he kept dumping on the graphics... I was like "dude the first time I played this I couldn't believe the graphics... why you dissing?"

I still replay games like Price of Persia: Sands of Time and Return to Castle Wolfenstein every now and then. Graphics are an afterthought to me. Gameplay is where my true allegiance lies.

I like my games to have good graphics, but I do know when and what era they were created, which means I know the limitaions of the tech at the time.

So if I play Quake 1, the graphics are pretty to me.

If I play Battlefield 3, the graphics are pretty to me.

I hate people like that, there are so many good games out there that people will never play because they think the graphics are bad, my friend for example, will never play Minecraft because the graphics look bad.

One of my friends told me the exact same thing.

Minecraft is one of the most "beautiful" graphics I've seen. lol Seriously.

It has its own beauty, in a blocky, 8-bit way.

Kids this days dono how to appreciate the beauty of story and plot.. rather than just rate the game base on the graphic.. piff..

Judging a game based on it's graphics is like judging a book by it's cover.

I think the main problem underlies with the fact that sometimes it's hard to play something with inferior graphics once you've tried the HD ones. It's like the brain automatically tells you to grab the game with HD features unless you're familiar with the series.

Most of my classmates told me that when I introduces minecraft to them.

This is usual for these generations. When i introduced "3D dot game heroes" which is for me a very fun game with the 8bit HD graphics all they can said is the graphics sucks balls, it does not even come close to MW series which makes like WUT???

The second game i introduced is Mario 3D land which is also another game which is very fun... their reaction? What a lame game. The graphics is not real at all, this is just a kiddy game. U should just play MW and Battlefield like us because the graphics rocks and it is a hardcore game.

If they judge a game based only off its graphics then they are probably retarded. They're only hurting themselves by missing out on tons of games with "crappy graphics".
