Halo Master cheif's story who is he?

@exterminatus: I found the Cole Protocol to be boring and iffy. I definitely prefer the first four novels by publishing date. I thought The Flood did justice to the game even if it was done by Wiliam C. Dietz instead of Eric Nylund, who wrote FoR, FS, and GoO. True, Dietz's style was different from Nylund's, but I enjoyed it all the same. Cole Protocol and Contact Harvest in my opinion were like afterthoughts, and not enough attention was made in the creation of the stories, though they weren't bad, but weren't great either.
@skydagger: you'd be hard pressed to find Halo 2 for PC for free on the net. You'd better have a keygen because most downloadable versions require a CDkey.

I agree, Contact Harvest was a much better book than Cole Protocol, but it kind of belies Johnson's character in-game as all we see is a soldier who's gung-ho dedicated to wiping out the alien scum.

What i find weird is Jenkin's mood and how it differs from the game, even though it was a minor thing, its still something which keeps me awake at night.

@exterminatus: Jenkins's character literally did an 180 in Contact Harvest like you mentioned, which is another reason why I don't like the book.

@AxlHardy20: would it hurt to search for the appropriate topic? https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=19818

Halo's story has always been its weak point. And Master Chief is such a generic character. Don't see why anyone would care.

@Vladmir: At the time had an amazing story. When Halo 1 came out the aspect of playing as that badass was incredibly awesome. The floods introduction is one of my fondest video game moments. The build up is amazing and the fight to escape that god forsaken place was both frightful and intense. As time when on people started calling the story cliche, but you can't deny it is a effective story that keeps you moving and is both rewarding and not overly complex. Plus Chief is a badass, that's all that needs to be said really.
@g-money: Personally my favorite vook was Ghosts of Onyx. Kurt was such an awesome character and his death was one of the most awesome endings I have read in a while.

@CGlover: I definitely liked the Ghosts of Onyx story, but I think of it on the same level as the The Fall of Reach novel. Nylund's writing has a lot of creativity in it, but GoO gave a whole new perspective on the Spartan IIs and what went on during Halo 2 with the Spartan IIIs.

The Russian economy and military is so bad, they had to send their own president to fight against us through the internet.

I like GoO too and i love the spartan 3s but shame they ended the way it was. I hope the new anime series would show characters from the book. Also, does anyone else notice that the ending kinda let Bungie cut off the "excess" characters off that kinda contradicts the fluff? such as the surviving spartan 2s, Halsey etc.

He's still just some faceless, speechless guy in space armor. That's about as bland as it gets nowadays.
I really liked Combat Evolved. But Halo 2 and 3 were so much different. The story, like pretty much everything else about the series from hereon out, just seemed so... "blah". And 2 marked the introduction of the Arbiter. He's like the Halo equivalent of Jar Jar Binks. Nobody wants to play as that fucker.

The Arbiter is madass, well to know his full story, you have to read the backgroud fluff to understand his situation.

He's not faceless (read the comics) and more important, not voiceless (try watching all of the cut scenes)

@exterminatus: If you refer to my earlier post with the current status of most if not all Spartan IIs:
You'll notice that half of the Spartans are KIA, and the rest are MIA for good or will never return to service. It still makes the hype that Master Chief is the only surviving Spartan believable in a sense.
