Hourglass of Summer
1
So, I played a route yesterday and I thought it was fantastic. So I thought I would recommend it to those of you visual novel players. This game does not have hentai for those who only want to play for the hentai though.
Here is the plot summery:
Here are some screen shots:

I really liked this game and seeing as how it was made by the people who made my favorite visual novel of all time, I really liked how I saw where Ever-17's origins are from since there are similar elements to it. The story was very well put together. The graphics could have been better but this is a bit older game so I guess I can't complain. Yume Miru Kusuri spoiled me with their soundtrack and I found myself wanting a better soundtrack to the game...
The thing I didn't like about the game was that it is played in a DVD format. It isn't played like a normal Visual Novel where you click to go to the next text, you watch it like a movie and when choices are made it goes to the corropsonding "chapter" of the "movie". Overall you do get used to it, but the lack of a save feature and backtrack option to see the script you missed really bogged me down. Having to restart the whole game because you made a mistake... There are passwords in the game to go back to the place you were at, but I found it a hassle and never used it.
Overall though it was a great story and great play through. If this intrested you and you want to play it, there will be an upload coming soon by me. :D

Here is the plot summery:
The story revolves around a Japanese sophomore named Kotaro Makimura. As the school year ends and summer vacation approaches, he decides to admit his feelings to his crush, the beautiful Kaho Serizawa. As hopeless as the situation looks to his best friends Ai and Takeshi, he is determined to make Kaho his girlfriend by the end of summer vacation. However, on his way home, he has a collision with a mysterious stranger, and ends up getting covered in a strange multi-colored powder. When he wakes up the next day, he finds himself waking up on September 1st - the first day of the next school year. He also learns that Kaho, who had been his girlfriend, had died in a car accident. Eventually, Kotaro discovers that he has begun day-dropping, in which he skips days, and goes back and forth in time through different days of the summer vacation. With the help of Ligene the Time Patroller (also translated as Lee Jane), Kotaro must win Kaho's heart and prevent her tragic death before he runs out of time.
Although Kaho is the girl that Kotaro aspires for at the beginning of the game, the player can choose different decisions that will eventually lead him to relationships with one of the other four girls. Of course, the wrong decisions could result in an ending in which Kotaro wins the affections of none of them. Although the objective of the game is to become the boyfriend of one of the girls, some of these other endings can be the only way to view certain images not found in the other paths.

I tried playing an Interactive DVD before and hated it. The text scrolls on it's own time and sometimes it's way to fast to read the whole translation. And I'm a fairly fast reader too. And i you weren't paying attention just for a second BOOM miss something important and there aint a damn thing you can do about it.
I saw this a while ago and wanted to play it but couldn't find it everywhere (well... I did find a torrent but decided not to DL as it was listed as 4 GB or some shit). The story sounds intriguing and stuff. I realized I couldn't find it 'cause it was a DVD and not normal visual novel game. Either way, if you upload it I'll probably dl and play it. The art doesn't look that old.
And I have a feeling I'm going to love the girl in the third pic.
Damn Hirameki translating them to DVD's instead of normal. They do that with a number of visual novels and it's rather annoying. D<

Actually, it is 7 GB... After you unzip it. I really didn't have any problem on the text speed for this game. I actually sped up the "movie" by 20% because it was going so slow. The art isn't bad for it's time but I was comparing it to Ever-17 their most recent game. :)

This is a great game, well visual novel, I got the DVD one, I was pÃssed because they removed the hentai from it, still it is worth the play just for the story, one of the best there is, I played this one shortly after playing Phantom of Inferno, another great DVD visual novel.
Yeah it is a huge download, I just don't seed it because my HD is packed, I am downloading Clannad TV and Movie, as well Haibane or something spelled like that, so no space now, still worth the search and the download.

This looks like it has an interesting plot. Too bad about the lack of Hentai in it though. It does have hentai well at least not in the DVD version. PC version.. I was never able to find that copy.. :/
All in all I really enjoyed the game and was one of the few VN that encouraged me to play YMK(Yume Miru Kusuri) and Clannad. Heck I liked the OST from it so much I actually went out and bought a copy..

Originally in this game there was hentai, but they removed it from the DVD version, and by doing that they removed some of the depht of the story as the sex here is used to make the relation between the main character and the chosen heroine deeper and more meaningfull, still a really good game.

hey, I just got this game, but it doesn't seem to want to work! I have the english version, and the first subtitle that comes gets stuck, and it won't proceed to the next one! I'm running on Windows 7, and I'd like to play this game!

This is a rather interesting 'game', but it does have some problems. Obviously as mentioned the lack of the adult scenes does remove some of the depth of the story. There are also a lot of grammar inconsistencies, which makes me believe it didn't receive the amount of beta testing required. It also just moves REALLY reeeeallllllyyyyy slow at times.
