How to Start a Translation Project?
0
Well, let's see:
First, you got the section wrong.
Second, you better be a translator yourself if you want to start a translation project or join another one in case that they need help. You don't want to start a translation project and then search for a translator.
Third, you need to have great determination and available time since translating is not simple at all and it's very time consumming. It's not for nothing that many people start translating something and stop midway because they don't feel like it anymore.
Four, if you think you have what it takes I suggest to first have a clear idea of what you want to translate / how to do you intend to do it or in what translation project you want to help. You could use VNDB to check Visual Novels that may interest you including ones that have a translation in progress and then try to folow up with your idea. You can also find here some tools because you need to extract and re-insert the text when translating.
Five, don't machine translate.
By the way, please don't feel offended if you think that my language was kind of aggressive. It's just that translating is a really serious business.

Mod Note: Topic has been moved from the Uploads section to the Visual Novels and Eroge section. This is because the thread was first found in the Visual Novels, Doujin Soft and Eroge (Upload) section, which led me to believe that the thread starter is keen on learning more about translating hentai software.
Title of the topic has also been edited a little.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Here's a little guide off of TLWiki. But as amorim has said, translating a visual novel is a lot of work and should be approached seriously. You not only need to be able to translate the from one language to another, but you also need the hacking know-how to access the content of the VN, as well as creating a patch or something of the sort.

and why can you not machine translate? obvously it will come out all weird sounding but someone can just put it into a sentence that makes sence right? i was going to try that i have a ton of free time...
And it just shows that you're lazy and actually have little to no motivation.
MAchine translation is limited to just literal translation, when the Japanese language sometimes have multiple way of readings that can only be read by someone who has that knowledge.
