So yea, Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 is announced to be released here in Europe (and in the US I guess too). I hate myself for buying HN because I knew it was going to suck but I still bought it because it holds the RPG label. Its sequel is supposed to be better but I know it'll fail as hard (maybe less) as the first. The funny part is that I fail harder because I'll still buy it.
To be released around february.
The combat system seems to be less retarded at least:

Wasn't there already a thread made for Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2? XD
But yeah, Gonna preorder this like I did with the first. No regrets whatsoever.

First impressions:
HUGE HUGE improvement over the first one. The battle system is actually decent and worthy of any decent RPG game. There are actually quests you can take and ends with rewards. Dungeons aren't squarish anymore. Everything is better than the first game.
I'm not saying the game is a must buy, just comparing it to the shit game that was the first. So if you enjoyed the first, you'll totally digg the second one.

are the world and towns still menu based or can you actually walk around and talk to NPC's?

I just bought it. So far, I think it's nice, but not remarkable, serviceable gameplay but it's obvious that it wasn't the focus. I other words, an Idea Factory game.
Although IF actually improves game after game. I doubt that I would think that the first Neptunia game (which I never played, because I didn't find it anywhere) is shit because of this, unless they somehow made a leap backwards (although I heard that the healing system is universally reviled). I actually quite liked what I saw of Trinity Universe. Although I can see why someone would dislike the gameplay in an IF game because... well, as I said it's obviously not the focus of their games and I can't see it being better here. This may even have a bigger focus on cute girls than other IF games, I can't imagine that the gameplay wouldn't suffer under that.
But it's still to early to make a judgment, as I just started it.

I was smart enough to borrow HN1 from my friend. That game sucked ass so hard, my eyes/ears bleed. I'm not getting HN2....never ever. I'll just wait until GUST releases their new game.

Ye no joke, I'm actually slightly enjoying mk2.
lvl 27, just arrived at Lowee, I'm overfed thanks to those "rare" monsters.

Finally getting into the real meat of the game, I have to say I'm positively surprised. That may be the first actually good game that IF has ever developed. The gameplay is more than serviceable now and actually really fun. Certainly not something I expected. I may play that longer than other games by the same company. And not just because of sort-of lesbian personifications of game consoles and companies.
The animations of the character models in the dialogue screens look wrong somehow, though. It's a logical next step of the animated character portraits of Trinity Universe, but the implementation here looks somewhat off.

downloaded a trailer off PSN and laughed my ass off through the whole thing. Guess I'm not seeing what makes this game good?
Enlighten me please!

This game is one of those hit or miss games, either i buy it or... it will cost bazillions online in less than a week since their storages will blow up on release day. None of my friends are buying this after HN1
P.S. The only redeeming point in this game is that Keiji *Father of Megamen* Inafune had a part in this game's development.

I would never recommend this game to someone who has never experienced the horror of either Trinity Universe or HN1. I've been impressed by Mk2 because while it's not on a great-tier level, it still offers enough for me to keep playing it (in comparison to the other games I mentioned).
Also, Nepgear acts so much less retarded than Neptune.

I swear, as soon as I have the chance to do so, I'll switch Compa out. That hopeless little bitch just keeps dying, it's as if she has some sort of fetish for it. Doesn't help that enemies seem to love ganging up on her. Worst of all, since she is a doctor/nurse/whatever, one would think that she has healing skills, but she doesn't. At all. So, I can't even let her stay out of the fight and use her as support character, she'd just end up being completely useless.
Really, as soon as I have at least five party members and can switch Compa out without being short on fighters, she is not going to see the front row ever again.

I always use Compa but I never let her engage a fight, she always stays behind and keeps healing whoever needs healing. If anything, the one I have a problem with at the moment is IF, she's the only one (at lvl 27) who still doesn't have a good combination skill I can use at every turn (without the AP bonus) and her only damaging SP Skill cost way too much. And she always seems to miss more often than the others despite her high accuracy. Also I'm taking the big monsters as a reference since they're the only monsters I'm killing now to get my exp and gold.
Her support bonus is great though.
(We're really enjoying this game are we)

if you watched the trailer and thought "this isnt my type of game" then it probably isnt, i wouldnt recommend it, its a niche game made for people who are fans of this type of thing.

well I mean this is what I watched
Spoiler:
I like cutesy things as much as the next guy, but I draw the line at one point. :D I can deal with girls in tight suits and such but throwing in a cast what looks like nothing but all females and a point with 2 legs and a set of wings makes the game a little awkward to play in front of friends. I'd at least rent it or something..
