I...I did it...

It's official after 7 years of off and on playing Final Fantasy 6 (originally released in the states as Final Fantasy 3) I've actually beaten it. Normally my beating a game wouldn't amount to so much time spend on it or public announcement. But I've tried to beat this game in vain for 7 years of my life. 7 years of fighting with this game, 7 years of set backs. I've grown to affectionately call FF6 "My Old Nemesis" Because the game always finds someway to elude me beating it. I've had everything happen to keep me from doing it from the game being stolen, to the cartridges being swallowed by heating ducts, breaking internally, the contacts tearing from the cartridge as I tried to take it out. I've seen saves wiped by power surges, faulty solid state chips in the cartridges, bad power cord connections, dogs tampering with the cartridge. I even hunted down a rare copy of anthology before it came out on the PSP again and tried to beat it on not 1 but two ps2s. The first PS2 broke shortly after I beat the game. The second one got me all the way to the final boss, and then somehow my memory card which was in the machine went missing never to be found again. For 7 years I have done battle with my nemesis whenever it reared it's head, and for 7 years it has utterly defeated me. But today my friends, I have finally bested my nemesis and beaten Final Fantasy 6 once and for all! Rejoice with me my Fakku brothers and share with me your tales of your own personal video game nemeses.

Its still my favorite game yet I still haven't managed to beat it yet. Ever heard of Legend Of Legaia? Yeah that's the game that has alluded me since 1998. Yet its on my psp so I have no excuse...

Congratulations! (?)
I hate leaving games unfinished, but do it all to often. And this reminds me, I still haven't beaten Baldur's Gate II. ;(

I have heard of Legend of Lagaia but I've never played it before. Good luck tackling your own nemesis Spectre.
@Kadushy: Thank you sir.

Now I begin to wonder what the next game to rear enough of a challenge to become my next nemesis will be.

Kinda like me and Tales of Legendia, although that has been only three years. Despite a lot of people, I love Legendia, but I can never finish the game entirely. I usually get 3/4 of the way through the Character Quests and then quit.

Well, my game would be Tales of The Abyss[Shit's the best game ever.] I had to buy three discs 'cause they kept getting ruined. First one was ruined because I didn't press the disc down onto the thing that spins around properly, so, it spun around and got scratched. Second Disc: This one didn't have any problems at all, until I got to the last boss, who I couldn't beat, for two weeks. So after two weeks, I decided to give up and start from the beginning, do some of the side quests, gather better equipment, the usual crap. A day after that, the disc got scratched due to overuse... Third disc: I beat the game, five times[Not including second playthroughs.] that got scratched due to overuse as well. Point is, I have three Tales of The Abyss discs sitting in my room and I can't find anymore.

Congratulations on your triumph over FF 6... Which reminds me...
I need to finish hector hard mode on fire emblem... well then my nemesis awaits...

What appropriate timing seeing as how I completed Zelda: ALttP from start to finish for the first time yesterday.
