introducing sega's new next gen console RingEdge
0
hello fakku. I come with news of sega's next gen console the RingEdge. At this stage sega is still in development of their next gen console. The RingEdge will be a low budget console starting at 250 dollars per console. Although the RingEdge will not be as powerful as the xbox 360 or the PS3. Their is still much opportunity for this console as far as improvement. However in the long run this console will have a slight advantage over the wii, 360 as well as the ps3. The RingEdge is a native computer constructed by sega meaning that this console will be the first console to be fully upgradable meaning motherboard, processor, gpu etc, like any ordinary computer that you buy out of a store and this will be the advantage over any console.
here's a video description of the Ringedge

here's a game demo

and here's the specs
Ringedge:
Intel Pentium E2160 CPU @ 1.8 GHz
1GB of DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM
An “nVidia GPU” w/ 384MB of GDDR3 RAM and supports Shader Model 4.0 and “two 1920×1200†³ which probably means it has ports for two monitors and can support up to that resolution. Also as of a note, it says “nVidia GPU 2†³
5.1 ch HD Audio
Onboard Gigabit LAN
A 32GB SSD drive for storage (finally, flash storage instead of a standard HDD which will likely come soon.
More than likely when console reaches stateside expect to see returning titles like marvel vs capcom 3, project justice 2, and more power stone action.

Um, the Ring Edge is an arcade system board, a dedicated computer system created for the purpose of running video arcade games, not a next gen console. So it won't be competing with the PS3, 360 or the Wii. Sega officially stated that they weren't going to make a home console ever after the Dreamcast.

I've seen a lot of new model kits from this series and had no idea what it was. Thanks for taking that monkey off my back.

How could someone still think it's a new console?

I don't know what ringedge would have to do with capcom games, seeing as they're running everything on Type X2 now anyways.

even tho the chances of it becoming a console is slim there are possibilities of it actually becoming a console not saying that kawaiinpunch and the you guys are wrong but this could have alot of sega fans thinking in the near future. At one time yes i would have to agree that sega announced that they will stop making console's and start making games for multiplatforms which is very true. However the sonic games are not as good as they used to be due to the game devs making their games fully compatible with other console's which could lead to more game glitches and a incomplete game engine. Sega's game engines where perfect for their consoles, however putting the same game engine on a different console could lead to problems because of the game engins being incompatible with different hardware. A good example would be the grandia 2 for the ps2. Even tho the game was ported to the ps2 the game had problems on the ps2 due to compatibility. But knowing that the ring Edge is from sega still makes me think that sega might not saying they will turn this into a console one day.
