Issues installing multiple games

So I've been trying to install and play a few games lately...
Shin Koihime Musou & Mashiroiro Symphony to be precise, and they both error out of install/play.
Koihime is installed and I can usually get Daemon to run it and have the software recognize that it's a "master disk" when I have Steam up and running Spiral Knights for some reason. Mashiroiro Symphony fails halfway through install because the software doesn't recognize that it's an authenticated CD in the disk drive. With Koihime, I've tried burning it and physically running the disk to no avail, and before I try that with Mashiroiro, I figured I'd snoop around and see if there's anything out there.
I'm running Win7 and some version of Daemon Lite. IF anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

The Koihime has worked on a previous rig, with Vista instead of 7. :/

Have you change your unicode settings to Japanese?Yeah, I doubled checked that when I started having issues :/
Also, I just installed Wanko & Utawarerumono, and Wanko does work, but haven't actually tried playing Utawarerumono yet. It's strange how some work and some don't :/

Just saying usually if you have CD authentication problems, the best solution is to get a genuine disk and the second best is to crack it. Does it install or does it fail before then?

It's fully installed, and would play when I have a game running through Steam in the background... Which is what really gets me, since there should be no program interaction between Steam and Koihime.
I really should just get the game somehow, but since I really have no plans to go to Japan anytime in the forseeable future, I'm not even sure where to start to get it at a reasonable price.
