Japan to 360: GTFO

I can't say I am surprised, but I think ending the service is a little extreme. If I was a Japanese 360 adopter I'd be pissed.

No doubt it wasnt selling well there, So why keep a bad console when you have a good one like the ps3?
It may sell well over in Canada or other countries but there.... I bet its like its really bad. Microsoft is whoring money anyway, with their wireless adaptors and their charging XBL, bleh. ill stick with my ps3.

Im kind of shocked this didnt happen sooner. As far as I know, the 360 never did well in Japan. It was inevitable the service was going to end, sooner or later.

I knew it was bad but I didn't think it was to the point that they would pull out. It had sold 1.25M to the PS3's 4.74M according to VG Chartz. That's bad but it's not terrible in my opinion. Also, I don't see why they would piss off so many Japanese by discontinuing service instead of just not selling them anymore. Who am I kidding tho. Microsoft worrying about customer satisfaction? Like that will ever happen.

It's not for 360, its Live for the first Xbox, and it's ending in the entire world, not only japan. Ofc, this also includes original Xbox games that you can play on the 360 console, but the 360 games will still have Live.
So basically, if you do not still play ancient Xbox games on live, there is no problem.

Microsoft probably was all like "well if you dont want us, were just gonna be dicks and not sell them at all"
But that is where Ebay comes in.
And I knew their time was coming when i heard FF13 was for 360 here and not there. wise choice on japan either way.
Japan will survive though, they will just make something better to top it.

We know that :/ it says it right there in the Sankaku article.

Xbox Live services and online gaming for the first Xbox console, including for any games playable on the Xbox 360, will be terminated on April 15th, 2010.I didn't know it was for the whole world tho. Even more people pissed. If the PS3 having no backwards cap has shown anything it's that there are still plenty of people that play last gen games or at least the amount of complaining seems to show that.

If u knew, why is the title "Japan to 360"? Since this has nothing to do with the 360.

"I wanted to let you know that on April 15, 2010 Microsoft will discontinue Xbox LIVE service for original Xbox consoles and games, including Xbox 1 games playable on Xbox 360. Our first step in this process will be to turn off auto-renewals for those members who only use Xbox LIVE on a v1 Xbox. While I can’t comment on the specifics, this change will allow us to continue evolving the LIVE service with new features and experiences that fully harness the power of Xbox 360 and the Xbox LIVE community. We did not make this decision lightly, but after careful consideration and review we realize that this decision will allow us unprecedented flexibility for future features.

Might be better to read this =) A bit more informative.

I wonder how the community will like this? I don't hang around on any 360 forums, but the PS3 community is still hoping and praying for Backwards cap to return (and it seems it just might) and Microsoft just goes and throws it away. I know I wish I could play Shadow of the colossus on my PS3. Should have never gave away my PS2.

I am glad I don't have XBL anymore considering my 360 broke 1 day after it had expired so I guess I am lucky.

I you're going to read sankaku, you should check more than just one article. Yes, the live service for the xbox is ending, but the 360 is also on the verge of death in japan, being worth less than a ps2 these days http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/10/09/xbox-360-sales-collapse-completely/. so service for the 360 is a go, but the xbox itself ...

You guys really need to read more carefully. They are shutting down the online service for the ORIGINAL Xbox...not 360.

You need to stop spouting your useless bs in places that aren't IB.
Well I can't say I'll miss XBL for games I'm not playing anymore considering I never considered paying for that shit ever. Seriously I get the ability to use the internet to play games with every other way of playing games, why the fuck would I pay microsoft money every month for the privilege to do something I can already do for free?

why the fuck would I pay microsoft money every month for the privilege to do something I can already do for free?Hey, it's all an opinion so if you don't like it that's fine with me, but why such an aggressive tone? Paying a small amount that comes to about 4 dollars a month is really not that bad considering the nice features you get. My friends and I have so much fun on Live that I don't regret it at all. We've tried to play on PSN and it's so inconvenient after being spoiled on XBL. I'd pay Sony the same fee for a small variety of decent communication options between friends.
If anyone's going to complain about paying for online games it should be MMOs where it's up to $15 a month. I personally don't have a problem with it and millions of other people don't either. Sorry to get off track here but my point is I can't see why someone would bash XBL before pay-to-play MMOs.
Back on topic. I figured it would happen someday but I didn't think it would be until at least next-gen consoles were revealed.
