Just got a 360 - Suggestions?
0
As a late Christmas gift, I got a used 360 and one game - 'Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts'. Now as much as I love the Banjo series, I hate this game with a BURNING passion and I'm thinking about taking it back to get something else (around $20.) GameStop has one of the 'Blazblue' games for cheap enough (Calamity or something, I forget,) but I was told it has a LOT of flashing bits, and although flashing lights don't bother me much, being an epileptic still makes me shy away from that. Maybe.
So, with Blazblue still in mind, any suggestions? I thought about getting 'Deathsmiles' ... Even though the videos I've seen make me sick (literally,) and I'd just want it for the loli faceplate.
Don't bother suggesting 'Halo' or 'Call of Duty' or other mainstream shit that America's 13 year-olds are currently playing. At the moment I don't have a way to get the console online and won't for a while, so any games that are good WITHOUT Live is also appreciated.
Any good anime-style games out there? I keep reading about the same group of JRPGs every time, so I thought I'd ask.

I think I'm going to hang on to B-K now and get the BIG TEXT patch since it's impossible to read anything in the damn game to start with. That and for some reason I just can't take a Banjo game back after thinking about it.
I'll still take any ideas into consideration since Nintendo won't be getting any of my money until March.

Deathsmiles is a good shooter. Get it.
Get BlazBlue:Continuum Shift. It's the latest one in the installment, and it's still pretty cheap at $40 for a new one.
Buy Guilty Gear #XX 2 on XBL for like $10.
Ace Combat 6 just for the iDOLM@STER planes.
Super Street Fighter IV if you are up to it.
Record of Argrest War is a good JRPG to look into, especially the "Really Naughty Edition".
Hope this helps.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this one, but I recommend that you get:
Final Fantasy 13 ( Very good game for Offline only and very interesting story line)
Maybe Rock Band 3 ( If you are willing to buy some expensive drums, keyboard, or guitar) ( http://www.pnosker.com/video-games/xbox-games/214-rock-band-3-new-instrument-prices-revealed-with-pictures )However, only comes with 83 songs and isn't very good without internet, so this is so-so.
Fallout 3 or New Vegas ( VERY extensive story line for both, although Fallout 3 is cheaper(maybe like $10 now?), and I prefer it)
If you like puzzle games, then maybe you should try Portal 2, although it comes out April 20th, 2011 but this date has been pushed back before. But I hear it is very
good. However, Portal has been out and is a very fun game to play.
If you are willing to shell out $150 for the Kinect and then another $60 for Dance Central, then your set. This game has you copy the dance and it is very accurate. Also has mainstream songs such as Lady Gaga or Rihanna.
If you want a really good series, I recommend you get Assassin's Creed.
So far, there have been three games. the first two games offline and very good story line. The 3rd edition, however just came out and is $40 so yeah. And on another note, the 3rd game has a good story and has online multiplayer, however it isn't as good as the online gaming as other mainstream games, the the story line will get you hooked.
Dead Space is a game that is in space, I don't know about the story line, but I hear it is very good. It also has a sequel in production and is bound to come out soon since Gamestop now has the ability to let you pre-order the game.
But if you want a REALLY good shooter game, then I recommend you get Gears of War 1 &2. Both of these games have a really good campaign which take about 10-20 hours for beginners, 8-12 hours for the experts each. Assuming that of course you play non-stop on the hardest difficulty. And for when you do get Internet both these games offer a really good online experience and with the third installment Gears of War 3 coming out on September first, these games will be good practice.
In your post, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is like Street Fighter on steroids with graphics to worship, but like you said, it does flash a lot, but many of games do nowadays, sorry to say. I have played it and it is great, but I'm not really into this type of game, so I'll let you decide this one.
For a good offline game, you should really try Red Dead Redemption or Grand Theft Auto 4. These games offer a really fun and entertaining game-play that is a free world to interact with and that lets you do missions and such. GTA 4 is more of the modern day sandbox environment, while Red Dead is more cowboy style of GTA 4. These games are made by the same developers,so I guarantee you'll like this game for mindless fun with a great story line behind is all.
If you want psychological/action/mystery, I recommend Alan Wake which is very fun to play at night because it has a creepy aura when you're playing. It's also very entertaining when you want some horror to an extent sometimes.
Bioshock is a great game, haven't played it much, but I recommend it for a good story. I think it has two installments, so that be good.
All of these games are very fun and have a great longevity. I have personally tried them all, so I am assured that you will like a majority of these games. I apologize if some of the shooter games here annoy you, but they do offer great and rich stories offline. Also I have to apologize that barely, if not none, of these games are anime-like. However, I do hope that this has helped you to a certain extent and that if you do buy one of these games, that you enjoy it.

I believe your best bets are star ocean: The last hope, Infinite undiscovery and if you also dont mind regular rpgs the elder scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Seriously, Infinite undiscovery and star ocean were sooooo gooooddddd Screw final fantasy 13 its expensive and it sucks in comparisson. I always liked the dynasty warriors series but its probably a bit different to what you are used to. Maybe check out some gameplay vids and see what you think of it. Its good because it teaches you history in way you actually want to learn it. Lol If you do like dynasty warriors I highly suggest samurai warriors and warriors orochi 2. Perhaps you might also enjoy games like dead or alive 4. (Kinda like tekken but 900 times more awesome with more diversity in moves) All the suggested games are reasonably cheap the jrpgs and oblivion and dead or alive all being available for $29.99 or less.
Oblivion came out in 2006 and got game of the year. The diversity and huge numbers of quests make it just plain and simply amazing. Also, Elder scrolls 5, the sequel to oblivion called Skyrim is coming out on the 11 of november this year. It should be amazing. There are various problems here and there with oblivion but It is still worth getting and finding out how to work your way around these glitches and problems. (there is also a patched version you can buy anyway)

as a xbox exclusive i say play lost odessey. its a pretty good RPG. its about a man who 1000 years old(he cant die of old age) who is trying to find out about his past. along the story there are many suprise's. the game was made by the same producer of the final fantasy series.

Yeah, sorry for not being able to include those games. I only included those that I have played, so yeah

Wouldn't suggest anything other than Tales of Vesperia. If you have LIVE Geometry Wars 2 is awesome. Not online game just an arcade. Addictive.

Bayonetta will probably be a good one if you dont have LIVE yet, tho im not really sure how much it really flashes. There is also the GREAT Mass Effect games and of course tho kinda mainstream Red Dead Redemption. Thankfully, all those games do not need live and in my opinion, RDR is much more fun playing single player for the plot and atmosphere.
