Kanon

After searching through the pages here, I couldn't find a thread about it so I thought I'd make one myself. XD
I've been playing Kanon recently, my first VN actually and I like it a lot! I finished Makoto's arc and I couldn't stop crying when the arc was nearing it's end. (so sad. ;_;) I think I am going to try Mai now.
So, who of you have played it and what did you think? Is the anime better than the VN?

well, obviously speaking any VN is superior to the anime version but Kanon is an exception.
I cried both at the VN and the anime. T_T
well, back to the VN topic.
personally liked Shiori's route, since it give's off a Happy-relieved ending. :D
But I'm still curios on her illness though... like Akiko's jam..it's a mystery. :D

I really wonder what's in that. '.'

Well, the VN can be considered better than the anime simply because you can choose the girl you like the most. The characters do look much better in the anime, though.
Shiori's most definitely my favorite. Still very much disappointed about losing her in the last waifu reset...
Mai's route... has the worst h-scene of the game. You'll see. Otherwise she's awesome as well, though.
My least favorite by far is for some reason Ayu. Somehow she just manages to really annoy me most of the time.

Well, the 2006 anime is superior to the VN, which is unusual, but understandable. In the game, I felt that none of the relationships were believably intimate, thus in the anime where he's just good friends with all the girls, it didn't lose anything. Also, due to the fact that all of the girls are interacted with during different times during the day, it actually works out better to mash them all together than to split them up separately.
The anime has all the content of the VN and wraps it all up in a tighter, cleaner package, like there is cross-referencing between paths in the VN that unfolds naturally in the anime, but would only be seen in retrospect from playing the game. Honestly, I felt playing the game was a let down because I sunk a ton of time into it and saw very little new or interesting (exception being Nayuki's path, which the anime had to invent a lot of new time because her path doesn't gel nicely with the other 4 girls.)

Love'd Mai's route. She was so mysterious at the beginning and that alone sucked me to like her.
Also, I too feel a sense of joy when Yuichi managed to make Mai speak. :D

You don't see a lot of love for her but I really liked Shiori's route and she was my favorite. Mai wasn't bad, and Nayuki was nice considering in the anime Nayuki deserved better. Not a big fan of Ayu and I hate Makoto and dreaded her route,

I am doing Mai's route now too. It's good so far, although Mai is awkwardly silent. She's more a woman of ACTION than words! :D

It's 2006, not 2008.
I liked the VN and the anime equally. I liked the VN because it thol the story with more detail. I liked the 2006 anime because.. it was animated. I'm still wondering if Mai's or Nayuki's acr was the best.
