That mentality doesn't make sense to me in this context. It's not a new game, it's an additional chapter to an existing game. You can't enter into it without preconceived notions because you're expected to find value in the existing tie-ins.

Also, my thinking the main character is an asshole is completely independent of any preconceived notions. I'm sure I would have been much happier with the game if the mild mannered friend (whose name I can't recall) had been the protagonist rather than Souta.

I think everyone who liked Edelweiss liked Eiden Fantasia because it was the same characters in the same kind of settings doing the same kind of comedic shenanigans. People who liked Kira*Kira liked probably liked the story of Happy Cycle Mania for similar reasons- they just didn't like that so much of the story focused so much on a brand new idiotic narcissist rather than the further development on characters they knew and liked.

FSN was good, I agree, but I've never really gotten into the whole fantasy setting, and this game is as real as it gets on a certain scale. The music was good, each character showed development throughout the game as the band members grew.

Chie was probably my favourite girl, the scene leading to the "first time" was probably the most heartfelt.

Still, I was hoping that the band would finally get back together and make it big but ah, well... can't have it all. ;)

Definately recommend it to anyone who likes a slice of rock mixed in with their VN cake. Punk rock, that is.

I see. I remember hearing there was some sort of after story in Curtain Call for the band in Kira Kira...Well either way, I'll probably end up reading it.

I didn't really like Curtain Call. It was really short and it definitely didn't live up to the first one in terms of story.
