Actually, I meant while playing as a Hunter, if it's possible to get off a Survivor after lunging, short of killing them.

I don't have the game, so I wouldn't know how to play as the Infected. I'm assuming that once you attack, you keep attacking. That'd be cheap if you just leap from member to member and knock them all them down in succession like that.

It actually wouldn't be that cheap because once you get off the guy you knocked down, theoretically, he would get right back up (unless you took enough health off to down them). I could've sworn I've done this once before...maybe I was just meleed off and they didn't kill me. It would be great if you could do this though because most of the time all you want to do is down them, instead of killing.

Either way I'm about to play a lot of L4D and I should have an answer to the question pretty soon.

It's the same for every boss, Hunter while pouncing, Smoker while entangling, Boomer while vomiting and Tank while picking chunks from the ground - you lose control over the infected (Except for the direction in which the Tank and the Boomer is facing.) until the job is done. While the Boomer and Tank example is only for a short duration of time, Smoker and Hunter may only regain control through surviving, which is either being punched off / shot off (Smoker tongue only.) or successfully killing the survivor. No letting go possible, which is probably because Infected are actually 'brainless', being only led by instinct and placing their hunger over the safety of their own 'lives', which leaves no room for tactical target switching. And imagine the balance weakness if they would be able to switch their targets - which would actually only make sense for the hunter, since the smoker has a (Way too long if you ask me.) re-use timer on his tongue. And since close survivors are pushed back, and pounced survivors are still out of the game, after being freed, for a short period of time, since they need to get back up, imagine a scenario when you have three hunters around which go completely nuts and pin you down non-stop while being swarmed by a boomer horde. Bye, survivors.

And I agree, the smoker's tongue cooldown is waaaay too long.

Anyone up to share some defining moments when playing L4D?

This was badass, but I don't remember all the details ever since the demo expired, but I remember playing the subways stage and gettin midway across the map in the second part of the train tunnel before the ammo table/side entrance. This was on Expert difficulty. Me, being the idiot I am, takes the lead because I have the most health out of everyone in my group (which isn't a lot but still green). I have a shotgun and after getting out of the low ceiling tunnel I start shooting at zombies when a tongue appears out of nowhere and snags me. I try to find the smoker but it's too late and then I start getting my health sucked out of me when I finally get free once my teammates show up. Then a boomer shows up and vomits on me - wtf, I can't believe I didn't see that one coming. So then the next new wave of the Infected horde knocks me down and I shoot for dear life, and when my vision clears up, a fucking tank shows up on the other side of the tunnel (boomer is still alive from my 90degree tilted view ) and goes after the others. Needless to say we got stomped flat and we had level 1 weapons, though I don't know why the boomer was still alive because you can't miss that walking blob of vomit and blood... and again I was playing with strangers so this was to be expected.

Another great moment was when I threw a pipebomb at a witch when I was still a noob at L4D... lolz that was stupid and I proceed to get my ass raped by her. I'm sure some of you guys remember that.

I think I was in the game where you threw the pipe bomb at the witch....good times, good times.

No mercy, first stage, versus. We're reaching the outside, when suddenly a car blocks our way. We're nearing to take a closer look, and just when I realized what that actually was, and was about to yell out for my teammates to get away, the tank comes around the corner, hits the car and kills all four of us with one strike. Lulz ensued. And facepalms.

Death Toll finale, expert. Tank time, I'm the last one alive. After spending some intimate time with the tank he decided to finally give me a fist full of fail and sent me flying out of the house into the ocean. But I wasn't just flying out of the house, I was drawing a straight line into the horizon - which could be seen from the angle which the camera takes after a failed finale attempt - for my whole team to see. The only thing missing was a sparkle in the distance after my disappearence. I lol'd hard at that sight.

Accidentally throwing a pipe bomb/Molotov to a witch is really a bad move if you're not prepared...

After getting out of the safe house, heading towards the elevator shaft, I notice their is a witch, but "LUCKILY" she was standing in front of the ladder. So, I did what everybody would logically do sneak past the witch, but she still notices me and I get "NAILED".

Other stuffs:
Hear a smoker/Boomer/Hunter, can't find it, the next thing you know he's right beside you. :shock:

Right when the Helicopter came, Three tanks simultaneously showed up, easy but it's still OMG. the AI director maybe judged us as too strong. So "He" pressed the "ButtSecks -No Lube-" button. :lol:

That sounded like my experience too, because when I was playing through all of No Mercy on God mode (and on easy at that. I was trying to get achievements), I encountered not one, but two tanks in the first level.

Since I had Godmode though, it wasn't a big deal. Until I got to the Sewers where I was trapped in a tiny corridor with 3 tanks tossing me around like a baseball.

And by tiny corridor, I mean those thin narrow places you can use to sneak through the walls.

The good and bad thing in god mode is: YOU CAN"T DIE! XD

Good:
1000 zombies is easy, activate infinite ammo and throw molotovs everywhere.

Bad:
You can't die.
ex:
-Roof Finale, Bill got punch into oblivion by a Tank, The Helicopter won't move unless Bill is there.

-I got Punch out of the map by a tank, making the game semi-crash. :lol:

@Tsujoi: Yeah, you were with me. That was literally my second or third time playing the game with lag due to comp issues. The noob I was (didn't know what the pipebomb did but thought it was more powerful than the molotov), I threw the damn thing at the witch... only to backfire. Luckily we got rid of all the zombies in the factory room or else I would've attracted more zombies to me on top of the witch that was whaling on me.

I can't kill the witches in one shot! :x

Doesn't work on Expert due to increased hitpoints, if I'm not mistaken. I did it on Easy, got the idea after being one-shotted from quite some distance with the shotgun as smoker. My first try was with the sniper rifle, which failed hard even on Easy.

Well, I finally got it. :P

Granted, I cheated and spawned a witch, but that was it. >.>

Im so-so at fps but this is a definite rent for me. I mean whats better then shooting zombies? A few thing actually, but its in my top ten. :)
