Majikoi (English) (Wanko Patch Get)

I feel it's going to take 2+ years to finish translation the whole game, either that, or that the Momoyo route is incredibly long

Hey, I've been through the threads and there has been one person who has had the same problem as me but they appeared to have solved it without stating how.
Also a 2nd person has the exact same issue as me and also posted a pic on page 49, but it remains unanswered.
The mounting is fine and all, I get up to the setup and it starts to install the game, but during the installation it comes up with a message about 'config' or something and it closes, uninstalled. I have no idea what is wrong and how to fix this. Note that this error comes up during the disc 1 installation process, it doesn't reach the disc 2 question.
edit: oh and on the topic of birthdays, mine was last week, early august ftw?

Running it in japanese locale? Or using AppLocale to run the installation? Didn't really look back to see the problems, but that's usually the problem people seem to have while trying to install. Remember I had a problem originally when I was installing and turned out I just needed to install using applocale.

Do be aware that this game was originally made for native Japanese people in the country. They're computers are automatically set to the area of Japan and obvious difference is that they have the 'JPY' sign instead of a $ sign. For us foreigners outside of the country, our computers are set to other country zones and as such, that makes the game incompatible with the game. For those who are still having trouble may I remind you to go to control panel (if you're using a PC) and go to the area and language setting (the Globe and clock icon) then set the area to Japan.

I've finally finished all the routes (school and work, so I play short bursts from time to time). I've got to admit, from Yandere's promoting this game and everyones comments I expected more of an.....epic title.
All of the routes were adequate and the characters were pure greatness, but the endings just didnt give me the oomph that was say...... Fate Stay Night/Tsukihime/Saya no Uta. The novel is really sort of a spruced up slice of life, which when looked at from such expectations is a great game. Still, everything about the novel oozes style and charisma, and the VA combined with the great coding led to a beautiful experience overall.
Last tid-bit, vndb lists this game as having 50+ hours of play time. Does this mean an individual route, or all routes and or 100% game completion? Because FSN is also 50+ hours, and somehow my time reading of Saber and Rin felt so much longer.

Yeh I have a new problem now. I like to think I have enough common sense to handle this sort of thing myself (with the exception of the applocale thing where pics indicated that other people were running it in applocale but still had the problem, so I presume they weren't running in admin mode which would fix the problem).
Now that the game is installed...how do I play the english version? I would assume that I would need to extract the english patch inside the file location of where the game is installed, but it comes up with an error. I have also tried manually extracting the files in to this location but it comes up with the error 'Unable to find config'. When it doesnt come up with this error, it keeps asking to insert disc 2 regardless of whether disk 2 is mounted or not. Due ot this I've had to uninstall and reinstall everything, and I'm at a loss of what to do.

Don't know what to tell you about that one, I'm pretty sure I've seen others with that unable to find config problem but I never read what the answer was to it.

thanks for the fast response. Well I've tried different things without actually changing anything and it seems to be working now. I don't think I have done the right thing because I have to do quite ab it just to start up the game but at least its working now.
So guess I'm all good [for] now. They only thing it seems I've done differently is that I have disc 1 mounted and I've opened the japanese title of the game using applocale, although I'd be surprised if I seriously hadn't tried that the first time round...so maybe I either mounted the wrong disc by accident or I forgot to mount something at all. Although this makes me question what the point of the majiko.exe file is for (I assume thats for quick starting without having to use the locale right? cuz thats the one that keeps asking to insert disc 2)
edit: 'kay well now something different is happening to the new majikoi.exe file (although since I can get the game to work this shouldnt matter but the how logic behind this confuses me). Now the regular majikoi.exe will open regardless of which disc is moutned, but applocale needs to be run first, but that still makes me question its existance. Are we suppose to just set an applocale shortcut or was that .exe file meant to bypass it?
In anycase its all fine now, I can just set an applocale shortcut to bypass it anyway. I'd edit this post to say what I've done, but for whatever reason I can't type properly on these forums, the scrollabr goes haywire.
also, just from starting the game up and hitting 'end game' a few times just to see if it works.....I take it this game is suppose to be quite quirky? lol

Hmm 54% now. It seems that the translation progress got a little slower. Maybe the translators are in college since college classes start now, well in California it did.

Megaupload doesn't like me... :(
So is there are torrent for this game?
EDIT
Nevermind I found a media fire link for it but beware I don't know if it's legit but I'm gonna try it out anyway.

I'm really suprised about the translation speed if you think about other translation projects and the progress there.
