Mass Effect 2 Poll: Why did you buy it?
What's the Biggest Factor That Had You Buy It?
0
I'm actually doing a statistic on why people bought Mass Effect 2 and what their general idea of the game is since it seems as though many who enjoy the game are bitterly devided on what's good and what's bad about it. We already know that most current Bioware fanboys and fangirls only like Bioware/Mass Effect because of a single character from Mass Effect, be it either Tali, Liara, Garrus or to a lesser extent Kaiden. But I want to dive deeper into what really divides Mass Effect fans and, more importantly, what the general consensus is on just what is so good about it.
So why did you buy Mass Effect 2? Was it because of Tali's availability? Was it because you wanted to hit on the newbies? Was it to continue things with your alien/human lover from the first game? Or did you just want to shoot things and/or find out what's going on with the plot?
What's the primary reason you bought Mass Effect 2?
-For the record I bought Mass Effect 2 because of Tali's availability, so there. No one should feel pressured into answering "for the plot!" to save face for some reason. No matter what your reason, I'd greatly appreciate your honesty.

Story, of course. Always reason number one for any BioWare games.
Honestly, Tali was my absolute favorite character in ME1, but I don't really see her as a lover. The species are just too different. Might still try that option, though, once I've managed to finish the game with all my 4 ME1 characters.

I bought it for all the above. When I heard that it was coming to the ps3 I bought ME1 on steam and started learning the story and fell in love with the characters and and the story and the gameplay

Just because of how epic Mass Effect 1 was. Also, longtimenoC Megaten :0.
But what about it was epic? Though I'm starting to think I should've made "Epicness" an option. XD
And hey, Hentanize!

For the story. I never played Mass Effect 1, but I wanted to at least play 2. Yes, but I know for a fact you're an alien poon hound, so I don't know about that...

Hey, the only reason I romanced Tali was because I accidentally talked to her too much and I felt like an asshole denying her. Because of that, I stop talking to her after her loyalty mission.

Definitely story, but also the characters.
I only finished Mass Effect a couple of days before ME2 came out. I didn't get to read about about who was available or who was going to be in the second game. But I just fell in love with the stories and the characters. Basically why I bought the game.

I played it on my friend's 360. I bought it for the PS3 because the game is pimp and it had all of the DLCs except for the most recent one.

Definitely story. Every other choice was just a coincidental benefit that I happened to enjoy. ;)

Also, both have epic music. That's the one aspect of the games which i had high expectations for but was severely let down.
Not that it was bad, but it really lacked memorable tunes, the only one that stuck with me was The Normandy Reborn.

I bought it because I am a huge Bioware whore. That's the primary reason.
Secondary reason: Plot/storyline
Tertiary reason: oh fuck yes Garrus is romanceable in this one!

I brought it on PS3 because it had a huge discount and costed about 15 euro. And i was looking for something to play.

Wow! So far it seems like the upper brain wins out over the lower one. I guess I'm one of the rare few who only bought it because they wanted to fuck a tentacle-headed or chicken-legged alien. :/
Still, it's nice to see so many folk care about the story.

True, ME1 only had one score that I liked and can remember, which was Spectre Induction. In ME2, it was LotSB Combat and Suicide Mission. Hopefully Clint Mansell can live up to the hype ME3 has built.

Plot. Honestly, I wanted to know what would be the next move against the Reapers, since I had no idea what would happen after 1. And then after trailers, I wanted to know just what the hell happens with Shepard.
Wasn't disappointed in the slightest.
And speaking of music, I noticed that I while never could remember much of ME1 soundtrack (except the whole final battle orchestra), I did found ME2 music incredibly catchy. Especially the Illusive Man and Collector leitmotif. Tali's Theme, as well as whole Suicide Mission Suite were pretty gorgeous in their own right; I dunno, maybe it just nailed my tastes well.
