Synopsis:

This game consists of two parts: Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited. Unlimited is unlocked after you get the endings of the two main heroines (Sumika and Meiya) in Extra.

Muv-Luv Extra:
Shirogane Takeru is a typical high school student with a lazy attitude and a love for the virtual reality mecha battle game Valgern-on. Even though he didn't really wanted it, he is popular in school mainly due to his daily fights with his childhood friend, Sumika, attracting too much attention. His life takes an unexpected turn when he finds a girl (Meiya) he doesn't remember ever meeting in his bed one morning. Whom later revealed to be the heiress of one of the biggest zaibatsu. She immediately moves to his house and starts changing his life for the good with her one-track-mind and unlimited resources...

Muv-Luv Extra, the main part of Muv-Luv, takes place in the same world (and general area) as Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and Kimi ga Ita Kisetsu. The Sky Temple family restaurant is mentioned and visited, and Suzumiya Akane makes an appearance.

Muv-Luv Unlimited:
One day Takeru wakes up late, wondering why Sumika or Meiya didn't wake him up this morning. Not seeing any signs of them he gets a bit worried and goes out of his house to only see the town he lived all his life in ruins. After getting past the initial shock he decides that this must be a dream and decides to enjoy it as much as he can...

Holy Haruhi, an Arizth upload. Haven't seen one of these in a long time. Anyways, are these games really worth playing? There is like 500 of the things and usually those types of VNs aren't the best in the world since they're milking machines. I just have never had anyone say to me, "Dude you gotta play Muv-Luv it's fukkin awesome."

It's more like playing Extra + Unlimited, just for Alternative. Like how Amaterasu is translating the whole series just because of Alternative.

Extra is actually a comedy filled high school love life, not really super epic stuff, but light hearted stuff. But still far better then some typical high school VN, as it's funny and the sprites are lively.

Unlimited has comedy too, but more serious then Extra.

Amaterasu is translating this at an unbelievable rate!

For the CRC errors, as Kaimax said, re-download.

And yes, like any fan-translated VN, this requires either Applocale or Regional Language settings set to Japanese.

If I use the second instead, it does absolutely nothing at all (nothing translated).

I've tried varying the order, but it didn't help.
I'm using the game version DLed from the other Muv-Luv thread, since this one's version would not work for some reason (CRC errors. No amount of redownloading helped).

Gonna try the torrent version next.

Has any one translated Muv Luv Alternative? or are going to?

While Extra is just finished, Amaterasu needs to translate Unlimited next which length around the same as Extra.

After those two are done, only can they translate Alternative, and it's certain they will translate Alternative, it's why they picked this up anyway.

Just hope Age dont send some angry letters...

Imo you guys should somehow wait untill Alternative is translated, then pick this whole series up, as the build up from Extra/Unlimited will be wasted if time passed too much.

Torrent version won't even install correctly. I mount the thing, start install and then it tells me to insert the original CD. Still Having the exact same problem, even though I used the patch to install the entire game from scratch this time :/
