Yeah Total Eclipse is a VN (only japanese though).
But it comes into anime in September.

No, I'm pretty sure Total Eclipse VN is either about to come out "soon", or did some time ago.

Originally, Total Eclipse is a series of light novels, which have also been serialized in TSF Cross Operation.
And no, it does not take place after Alternative, it takes place before it, in late 2000 to mid-2001.

It focuses on test-pilots in so-called Project Prominence, a U.N-ran initiative to improve world-wide TSF development.

The main characters is U.S Ensign from Top Gun school who gets assigned to Prominence to help in development of next-gen Japanese TSF. The main female leads are from Imperial Japan's Imperial Royal Guard and the Red Army, respectively.

... Ugh. I see. Thanks for the clarification. Guess I'll wait until Age launches a real sequel to Muv Luv Alternative.

The Wikipedia article on Muv-Luv seems to state that the official title of the light novels is "Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse", and that it takes place after the events of Alternative. I haven't read much of Total Eclipse myself, so I don't know if it actually clarifies the time frame of the events sometime during the story.

That does sound ominous, though, I wouldn't be surprised that if the person simply traced the illustrations to save time. JKJK xD.

I've took to browsing my magazines (again), and it seems that first "dated" chapter is set on 3rd of May, 2001 (Alaska, Yukon), which is several months before Alternative (which begins around the traditional holiday period). At best I suppose, it's taking place in similar time-frame.

But it's not connected to Alternative. Total Eclipse is a different story in its own right. Alternative may be referenced at some point, but its not being relevant to this story.

There are other stories that take place after Alternative though. I do not know the title, but there is a story with last three Valkyries taking part of anti-hive offensive on Korean Peninsula in 2003. Incidentally, they're field-testing the TSF which was developed over the course of Total Eclipse, the Shiranui 2.

As for the whole tracing thing: Not amused, given it's like three weeks before anime gets released. And I'm a huge fan of Total Eclipse at that...I wonder if they'll stick with him for any further magazine volumes or...more Carnelian. Which is a not a bad thing.

And anyone else found it amusing that traced pic is better than all of originals combined?

Actually, that was one of the rare parts I truly sympathize with Takeru, and especially the events after that. To be honest I think I would've gone mad if I had to go through what he experienced when he -

The twists like this are part of what make Alternative such a painful yet thoroughly enjoyable and unforgettable experience. So yeah, get used to it LOL

You basically just reached the point in the story where it stops being a happy-go-lucky Military Academy light drama sitcom, and starts becoming heavy Military drama with light comedy just to keep you from breaking apart.

really? geh...i had to muster up the courage to play this game when I heard it was so much more depressing than extra. T_T



haaa...no choice can't back out now after going this far in the game...

We're talking about two different games here. Extra is your typical romantic comedy with ero to spice things up, Alternative is heavy military drama that WILL make you shed manly tears, tear out your hair in desperation and go all AWSOME, sometimes all at once. So get used to it and don't you dare drop it, this is THE game that deserves to be played till the end.
