Muv Luv Alternative

Sorry for for bumping semi-dead thread but last week I've been playing Muv Luv Extra and Unlimited and managed to complete both of them early this week. I started on Alternative right after finishing Unlimited and I got upto the same place as poster here:
After seeing the that scene, I've been traumatized. I am a guy who can't handle horror but don't mind gore.. however what I witnessed is on a completely different level. My heart literally skipped a beat when it happened, now I've been avoiding Muv Luv Alternative for a few days to try get over that whole scene.
Before I resume playing, I'd like to know if there are also any other diabolical scenes that would eventually pop up again? (or if they replay itself on flashbacks...) I'd like to brace myself knowing whats coming rather than being caught off-guard on that scene.
Sorry but Muv Luv is such an awesome series that I really don't want anything holding me back from finishing it... its just maybe there are some things I can't handle.

Well true enough, that was easily the most graphic scenes in the entire VN history. It's not just you, I bet everyone of us nearly jumped out of our chair when we saw it. It was the first time I felt my blood freeze that way, even though I always treat horror = thrill.

what with playing with headphones and all that background... noise... <_<
By the way, the manga is even more creepy-awesome-gory if anyone was wondering, too bad they aren't translating it (or if they are, they're slow as hell). ;_;

Well, I don't know anyone who would pursue the manga instead of the VN (if they knew it beforehand), and I certainly am not looking forward for another terror jump lol. MLA has some particularly heart wrenching scenes - especially Suzuka ones, when Takeru gave into weakness... Ah, that was so painful to watch. And so good from a reader's perspective that I feel guilty.

Also, the manga obviously has to be read AFTER you finish the VN, otherwise it'll ruin all the fun (at least, that's what I think).

Uh, Takeru's childhood friend? From Muv Luv Unlimited? The one he occasionally flashed back to in MLA? She's very cute in MLU you know~

This is why you need to play MLU before playing Alternative.

I finished both Extra and Unlimited before playing Alternative, thanks. :V
Unfortunately, since I can't understand Japanese, I couldn't play the side stories.

Huh... Then you should know very well who is Suzuka lol. You need to go through her and Meika's story before you can eve go to Unlimited, so I wonder why...

In the English translation patch I (and I believe most people who don't read Japanese) used (by Amaterasu), her name was Sumika. I know you tend to read visual novels in Japanese, so it's not impossible that her name was originally Suzuka, but I think I would have heard about it before now somewhere.

... *hides in a hole*Sorry, I came off as an ass there, I didn't mean it that way. I was just a little confused at first. COME BACK, WE LOVE YOU.

...wait a second here, so the source of all the confusion was because someone here mistyped Sumika's name? What the heck. :V
And this "Meika" would be MEIYA, right? Damn, don't do that again please, I was fearing that I missed something important from what I consider my favourite VN.

MLA is one of my top three favorite VN's and the only reason its not the highest on the list is because they haven't finished translating the 'fragment' stories from the total eclipse line. I had to take the trio of games (ML Extra, Unlimited, and Alternative) in chunks because it was just so long.
The slog through extra was a little hard, it stretched sometimes into the extremes, but it was totally worth it. Unlimited and Alternative have to be considered benchmarks as far as quality of story and depth of the characters go in the VN world. Watching the personality of the characters evolve as the story went on. I've actually recommended it to several friends on the sole point of its awesome storyline over the pr0n contents.
If you haven't played it, PLAY IT. If you have, play it again!
The second that Age puts out an official release in English, I am buying two copies of the whole freaking series.
The best part of MLA was how they integrated mecha into the army and rationalized it all. It's been a longstanding argument with my buddy from college as to why mecha haven't shown up in the army yet and MLA had a good reasoning behind it.
