FUCKIN MICROSOFT
My xbox 360 just failed on me today due to hardware problems and i got the dreaded red ring of death. I love my xbox due to its satisafactory performance so far till this incident and so i'll very much like to get this problem fix. I have a 20g xbox which i got 2 years ago and spent ALOT of time and money into this.
These are the options which i am goin to get my xbox fixed:
1.go to a gamer store like EB games to get advice (prob over charge it too)
2. send it bak to microsoft and hope that theyl fix it cos my warrantys expired and receipt missin and not to mention itll probbly take 10 weeks
3. remove the harddrive and buy a new one and ask someone to put all the data in it to that xbox.
4. buy a new xbox and start from scratch and recover my gamer id
5.destroy microsoft to the ground
Obviously one of the above is a joke. also im wondering if i can save my accounts that aint live accounts into a new xbox?
Help guys

Well man, sending it back will be useless and you probably wont even get it back, if i were you i'd check if you know anyone with experience on this or mayby someone with tech knowledge, if thats not the case go with 1. for now.

i thought microsoft extended the warranty to three years from purchase date, and that covers red rings and the video error. and as long as you registered it with microsoft when you got it you should be fine. if you didn't tho then probably best option is to trade it in for something if you can and get the arcade version since you have a hdd still

Also, i don;t think i have full red ring of death, mines only one ring rather then four and its a E74 error.

For the question: Yes you can.
The E74 error eh? Wasn't that brought by the New Xbox Live Experience?

Well according to several sites, ye it is. Funny thing is the night before it went to fuck, i was watchin the Halo anime on live and all was well, then mornin came n i got the E74 error.
I live in Australia, and im kinda worried bout sendin my xbox overseas. Also do i need to send my HDD drive as well?

No. Unless they tell you otherwise, all you send is the unit itself. No HDD, none of the wires, and no controller.

Have you seen this before? This is what you should do
when mine dies if it ever does (never play it) I will give the HDD to a friend and do that but i hear that walmart will have the arcade for sale for 199$ /w a 100$ giftcard I might wait for that if anything.

when i got the red ring i had a breakdown which resulted in smashed pieces of an xbox 360 a couple of weights and a katana(replica) stuck in the pieces.

Go and get a japanese game console like Playstation3. Durable and high quality. It really designed and engineered in japan.

If you seriously want to to dissuade them from repairing the 360 and getting a PS3 instead at least try and give a reason instead of generic PS3 fanboy comment #53537.

Would i need to pay for the postage? also how much does the xbox weigh, in my place, a 3kg package costs 80 bucks.
