Next-generation is more of the reason to switch to PC.

This is a very good read from gamesradar.

There are a lot of other reasons, too. Mostly, the hardware jump between generations likely won't justify buying a new machine. It'll be cheaper to just upgrade your PC. That and all that useless fucking "stop teh pirates! stop teh pre-owned!!" bullshit that Microsoft and no doubt Sony will try and implement into their systems for the sake of further disparity ...people will convert to PC. No doubt. It might not be a lot, but anyone with half a brain who hasn't already will come to PC, and a fuckton more will stick with their old consoles rather than buy a new one.

Yes it is!
Console gaming needs to step up it's game. I see games like Battlefield 3 (PC ver.) or some indie game on the PC and I hate that feeling when you know you can't get it.
Games are also WAY too expensive on console, nearly about $100 dollars... and then they only drop off to $70. (this is what the rest of the world gets, America. So stop whining about your $60-$20 price tag, that is really cheap)
I really do want indie gaming to really flourish on console. I want it to become more like the PC community.
But almost eveyone nowadays are CoD players only, never playing any other games (I mostly see this with 360 players). And Microsoft is actually encouraging it on their console, with their month early CoD DLC and everything (WTF, MS), not to mention their really bad indie games policies.
(Sorry I just randomly put my thoughts in any order XD)

The reason i play mostly on the console is the lack of fighting and melee-combat focused games on the pc. If that changes i would play on the pc more, but as for now there are more games on the consoles i like playing than pc ones.

Well i do have one gaming laptop and one gaming pc but... i just can imagine myself playing game like Civilization, Shogun, VN, Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu, and some online game. Other than that i usually just spend my time playing on my portable system, handphones, and especially on my consoles.
While nowadays many said that PC is the best gaming machine, it is still unable to provide us gamer great exclusive game like big N with Mario, Zelda and etc or Sony with Uncharted, Killzone, or the new game on vita Gravity Daze.
I believe both gaming PC and consoles have their own places just like how Ios and Android trying to take down portable gaming.

All this "Prevent copyright and piracy" bullshit is really grating on my nerves now.
If you don't get the relevance of my statement, then GTFO.

Since I already have a decent PC, I don't need to "switch".
And as always If the PC doesn't have the game that I want, why bother pouring my money to upgrade it. I honestly won't sacrifice "My anticipated console game" just because the PC is "better".
It's all about the games not the consoles in the end.

The problem is, to get a decent computer, one must spend AT LEAST $1,000. $1k minimum will get you a computer that'll play any current games no problem, and will be able to play some new games fairly easily. whereas if you get a console (for $300~) you're getting something that doesn't need to be upgraded for newer games.. the game prices are virtually the same ($10 different) so, you'd be saving money in the long run by getting a console... don't need to upgrade, and it isn't as tempremental as a pc (ie, a console can't get a virus afaik)
I will always have a console as well as a pc, cause I enjoy playing console more with racing games and such, and it's a lot better for company. The pc is just you and your wang

You happen to be talking about the top-of-the-line systems, but a good mid-spec or middle of mid and high-spec would probably cost you $600 below.

Hell nah.
I'm talking entry level shit.
Basic quad core, 4gb ddr3 ram, 1gb ddr5 graphics, y'know... well.. probably mid range.
It's entry level to me. as much as I'm using a dual core atm, If i bought and built a computer, the minimum would be what i put above for components..
Seriously, the above would be able to run nowadays games fine, but will slowly get outdated. Computer games constantly evolve, console games stick the component limitations.

I've read articles about this, but xbox's ultimate goal is to own your living room. (probably same for Playstation). Look at what the current xbox, has gained over the last few years, kinect (though not many good games for it yet), apps like netflix, bing, and others that depending on your television/internet provider you can watch tv, and movies straight from your console. And people can get together to play with each other. Dance central is a good example, a group of people just flopping around having fun, i can't see that happening on pc. PC is very good for gaming i admit, dawn of war ftw. But it doesn't quite have that broad entertaiment spectrum as consoles does, yet.

Every console has its good games, but like the article states, they are really making more of the same.

eeehh. I'm using a Gateway DX4831-01e
I only use my computer for
1.internet (youtube, facebook, etc)
2. porn
3. information
I used to be a big Halo combat evolved guy but every time I'd sit down and play for over an hour my wrists would start to hurt.
even if I upgrade my software and hardware I cans till just play the same game on my console without forking over an additional 400 dollars

Lol so it seems most of fakku'ers is console gamer like me. It is not like PC gaming is bad, but everyone just have their own preference and both of them has their own pro and cons so for people who said that PC is better should also try to appreaciate others prefereance lol.
