I just played the demo for Storm Generations. I can't decide on whether to get this or Mass Effect 3. . .
And for anyone else who has played the demo, am I the only one who hates the new substitution bar/system? Substituting ins Storm 2 wasn't great and now it's simpler but if you run out of substitution bar, you're pretty much going to get raped since blocking/guarding does nothing.

Didn't even know about this game. Tried the demo after I saw this thread. I don't think I hate the new substitution system. Didn't deplete my bar during the demo, but might get intense when fighting other people.

Yeah, that's kinda why they did it. Combos in Storm 2 were damn near impossible to do because people would just use turbo controllers to sub out of everything then hit you in the back with a Rasengan Barrage, so it basically just turned into that.
I actually like it. Granted Gekitou Ninja Taisen Special on the Wii had the same feature, but that game didn't too well...hopefully the same thing won't happen for this one.

Sounds like a good buy to me then, especially since I skipped over the first two games. I'd play over at my friend's though, they were solid games. I'll probably get my narutard brother to buy it.

I saw footage of Naruto going into the Tailed Beast Chakra mode, so I'm guessing Hale is right about where the story of the game ends.
Frankly speaking, I'm just glad they got Chikayo Fukuda back to compose. Her OST for the UNS games is leagues above Yasaharu Takanashi's works, which is odd, considering the latter also composed for Fairy Tail and Hell Girl, so Shippuden was expected to have a good score.

Looking forward to this game soooooo much. Just love the huge roster and how big the story mode will be.
I'm probably gonna buy it on release day. Only complaint about the demo is that you only got to play as Naruto, I were hoping they were gonna let me try out a new character, but oh well.
The new substitution system is pretty cool imo, it gives a little more depth to when to use it and adds a little bit more strategy to the game.
That's one of the things I really love about the Naruto games, it's based on strategy, you can't mash to victory.
One who hasn't played it before will never beat a veteran player without practice. Only problem is you can't pick it up and play with friends who hasn't played it before.

So I bought this game the day it came out (For the 360) and I've played it a little & this is what I've got say about it.
Gameplay/Battles
The new substitution limit is a sort of love/hate thing for me right now. I'm happy that the people I go against online & the computer player won't be spamming substitution against me but as it was mentioned earlier in this thread once you run out you're pretty much a free punching bag. Sure you have blocking but against a computer that's like never going to work.
Online Battles
So far I've had a pretty bad experience with this the first day. I see an awful lot of people use older Naruto (No surprise there.. --) and the delay was just terrible..My internet connection is really good so I don't know how I got like 2 second delay in my actions. Maybe it was because I let the game match me up with any region? Dunno.
Single Player
I was really looking forward to this being like the previous game, Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 but sadly it wasn't. I thought the whole free exploration thing & boss battles were really cool in Ninja Storm 2 but I guess most other Naruto fans disagree with this. Complaining about how the single player took too long to complete because of it's RPG style in Ninja Storm 2 so they just leave it at fights with some dialogue in Ninja Storm Generations. I guess it would be pretty hard to make an RPG style single player though with all the Generations.
So yeah that's how I feel about the game. ;P By the way if you have played Ninja Storm 2 you get 50000 Ryo and unlock 11 characters right from the start.
P.S - The original anime content is awesome. x3

Yeah I was really surprised to see original animated scenes. Love the selection of characters and stages.
I like the new sub system. I find myself spamming it out of habit and running out, but once I break that habit I think it will make the game more fun. We'll need to decide what attacks to block, dodge, and sub strategically.

For example, my favorite fight in Storm 2 was Naruto vs Sasuke when it kept flashing back to their previous fight. Nothing cool like that in this one, but I don't really miss the quick time events. I can't really complain about anything with the new stuff they added.

No roaming this time. The story mode skims the stories of different characters and goes from fight to fight, no more RPG elements. Still collect money and buy stuff through the menus though.

The only reason I would but is for the characters not already in Storm 2 like all the Kages.
Hopefully when Storm 3 comes out, they combine all the best parts of all 3 games.

-_- That's lame. I'm probably not gonna get it until a price drop. I played bleach soul ressurreccion that had no roam around like this one. found myself playing Through the story( barely existent that is). And then never picking it up again. What I meant by barely existent is that it had scrolling text through half the story, with a character reading it. And the other half was said during battle which I'm to focused to be able to listen. And it skips the previron espadas battles.

I wouldn't call the game a downgrade, more like they swapped features. No more adventure mode, but we have more characters and more stages. There are new battle modes like survival, tournament, and training, as well as a couple new fight modes on online player matches. We can also download, save, and watch replays.
I do like watching replays from other players. I'm only an average fighter, if that, so it's fun watching matches by more experienced players.

My question was do they half ass the story? Do they have good cutscenes like in the 2nd one. Definitely not in-depth, the story-telling is minimal. Each character's story has a couple animated scenes, then images with dialogue to move it along. They really just seem to be a bridge to get from fight to fight.

Do they have good cutscenes like in ninja storm 2?Well..The only cutscenes they really have are when you start someone's tale (Tale of Itachi Uchiha for example) and when that tale is over. Those cutscenes are full on original anime content (The Madara, Itachi, & Minato ones were awesome) like they said it would be but the stuff between that isn't anything special. You just have some guy reading the lines..Pictures being shown..Pretty much like a slideshow telling you that stuff that leads up to the fight. Then before the actual fight the characters will say some lines like this for example..
Sasuke: "I've done what you said Itachi..I've let my hatred grown..I've lived so I can kill you!"
Itachi: " (Sasuke..)" <--- Said that in his mind.
I only beat the Single Player yesterday and after playing all of it I was even more disappointed with it. You can have the same fight two times. Like Kakashi vs Zabuza for example..During the tale of Kakashi you fight as him..Then during the tale of Zabuza & Haku (Very short of course..lol.) you fight as Zabuza. And when I was Haku I fought Sasuke one fight with Naruto has his support..And the next fight was against Naruto with Sasuke as his support.
But anyways like Hale said the new options like Survival mode and Tournament are pretty fun but I do hope the next game has a Ninja Storm 2 like single player but still keeps the extra options Generations brought..That game would be perfect in my eyes. xD And if they did original content for another game too..That would just be icing on the cake.
