I did a search, and I didn't see a topic about this.
But there is this Android based Console called the Ouya being developed and it was funded by a kickstarter account. Their main pitch is that it's open source and "hack-able"
The videos and links below can explain better than I can.
The concept is pretty cool but I have a few doubts about it. Thoughts?

To he honest. The idea sounds pretty good in paper but I am not convinced this console is going to be a success as it stands.
- Hack-able: is the first worry, because they are not clear what is hack-able in an open source system. It gives cheaters a far great advantage. Ouya or the developer must have control of multiplayer experiences. if only cheaters win in multiplayer, the average customer will fail and the console will fail.
- Ouya is not a console, it's a simplified PC. This is a flag considering the many devices that are simplified PC that plays games (tablets, smartphones) that are getting hefty in specs in time.
- They need some exclusive games that will attract people, so far I have seen none and if there is, there has been no announcement that I have heard of. They need some third part exclusive or get a first/second party studio with a good game. Games sells systems.
- Kickstarter: ... IMHO, this killed the system for me

Sounds like a nice idea. Only a $100? also sounds like a good solid price for some quick fun in between game releases.

I'll buy it. The concept looks interesting. An open platform is wanted as you could add some interesting functionality to certain areas, but for the average consumer I doubt they'd care.
I don't think hacking in multiplayer games will be too significant of a problem. Some method to check the integrity of the system's hardware should be enough to deter cheating in multiplayer games. And there are multitudes of methods to secure games against software based hacks (think VAC).

I just want to see it when they finally put it out, my main concern is that they rush it and they don't put in what they talk about
also I don't know what major game companies will put their games on here.
but for $100, idk what to expect...I guess just wait and see

Since it's only $100, I suppose I may try it out. Although the slim 360 controller with a PSHome button instead of a dashboard button design doesn't sound too appealing to me. Well, I guess I'll grow used to it.
I'm willing to bet it'll end up collecting more dust than my Wii if I purchase it. I'm also willing to bet plenty of people will put it upside down.

Well it was announced a long time ago so there's no need to hope that it would be rushed. As a matter of fact I haven't heard anything about it for a long time after the Kickstarter goal was reached.

owo This looks very interesting. I would love to see where they will go with this once it has finished developing.

Come to think of it, everything being free to download makes it easy to hack into the full stuff, in theory. Why bother paying to unlock the full game when you can just hack past it? Why bother paying for bonus items when you can just hack them in? That's what I'm thinking, at least. I'm sure that the creators have figured out a way around this, but it's still something that I can't seem to ignore.
Maybe they'll have a message saying "Please don't cheat developers out of money" every time you start it up?
