PIRACY

I pirate my nintendo DS games and am proud of it.
You don't expect me to go and import all those games, now are you? '.'
And I did play some roms of older games on my comp before. It's not like they're being distributed anymore and I feel like the prices on the wii are sort of a rip-off.

I never pirate games, except for the older games for the SNES and GBA. What, am I supposed to go to every game store in the state, looking for a copy of a SNES game that hasn't been made in decades? Am I supposed to somehow find a Gameboy Advance in a story and then somehow buy all the games? What would it matter anyways? I'd be giving money to the game stores, not to Nintendo. It'd all be used, so Nintendo would have already gotten the money for it.
The main reason I don't pirate games though is the fact that I can't. My computer is nowhere near good enough to play PS2 games, let alone anything that came after. Plus, I don't know anything about video game technology. I'd have no idea how to get a pirated PSP game to work if I even had a PSP.

I'm not really ashamed to say I pirate - I'm an independent student, come on. I'll try to support indie gamers or titles I thoroughly enjoy, but most of the time, hey, you're not losing money as I wouldn't ever buy it anyway.

First off:
1. Playing abandonware is not clear-cut piracy as to qualify the publisher has to "abandon" the title (not release it for sale in any form).
2. This:

Substitute the movie with a "DRM-ed" game and you get the picture.
3. Most games made nowadays are crap. In the past I could play a DEMO and decide if I want to play. Nowadays there's no such thing (...a the demos that *do* get made are fairly deceptive). So thank you, but before I buy I like to try out what I pay for. So yeah, one more for piracy. On another note: I *do* buy what I like.

I only pirate games I never intended to pay money for in the first place. Really companies should thank me for doing this because if I like their game enough the next time they make one I might actually decide to buy it. Otherwise I might never have known they made good enough games to be worthy of my money.
Though with the way DRM is going these days I may end up resorting to piracy just to not have to deal with it/punish the companies that are going crazy with it/be able to play if my internet dies for even a moment. Seriously, I warn everyone: Do not buy Assasin's Creed 2 for PC when it comes out unless your internet connection never breaks.

Some sort of anti-piracy that involves internet connection? Can anyone fill me in? I don't pay attention to any sorts of video game news anymore.

I do a little of both. If I can't find something in a store, I'll DL it. If I do, I'll usually buy it, unless I think the price is outrageous.

Ubisoft being stupid and requiring an active internet connection at all times to even play the fucking game. If your connection goes out for any reason, the game locks up. Stupidest DRM I've ever heard of.

Piracy is so horrible here that for alot of games people just screw us over and don't bring them out here, forcing even the honest people to pirate them. Sad circle in which the game industry only loses.
Ofc i'm not saying i'm the honest person, i'm just as crooked as so many others here.
And i love it :)

I have never pirated a game ever before~! For three reasons, 1. I don't even know how~ XD, 2. It would take too long for me to learn how and to go through with it, and 3. I like to help out the producers so that there may be more games made by them in the future~ (I know one person doesn't matter much, but I still do it).
Also, I like to have the game in it's box, instruction manuel, and any bonus content I can get as a preorder bonus~^^
I am ol' natural when it comes to acquiring video games~^^

It all depends on the format of the thing and if I can get it in shops.
Games: I buy them I've never seen a pirate, but even if I did I still think I'de buy the game.
Films: I only buy them if there is a special edition that comes with more than just a film.
Anime: I buy and download equally and the majority that I download isn't available to buy and doesn't seem to be coming any time soon.
I think it shouldn't be illigal to download some thing if you can't get it in shops.

And this is an even stupider post.
People who do things legally are 'stupid'? Right....

If a game has Multiplayer or is really really worth buying or has GFWL achievements, I buy original.
If I want to check if a game is worth something or if it's just Singleplayer only with no achievements or etc., I go pirated.

personally, I will only buy a game if I really love that game/series (i.e. SRT, Disgaea, and Hatsune Miku Project DIVA).
if I just want to play a game because it seems cool from gameplay vids, then I'll probably pirate it.
