Playing Jrpgs along with walkthrough/LP, your thoughts?

I am almost finished with DQ6 on ZSNES with fast forward, save slots, translation etc. In addition I have followed a walkthrough since it really comes down to randomness every so often in JRpgs, in that sense I have never played a jrpg hands-on - with the origianl console etc (without all these "cheats"). It does not actually ruin the fun for me but it feels kind of noobish. But once again sometimes walkthroughs/asking other people for help IS necesarry to even finish the game.

I never use a walkthrough unless i complete the game at least once, or i have exhausted every other option. i remember back in the day the Game Genie/Game Shark both are tools of the devil in my book.

For me is a total necesity, can't play a RPG (specially JRPGs) without a nice, clean and detailed walkthrough.
Specially because I hate playing the same game twice, currently I'm playing Record of Agarest War Zero, and after I finish it I'll start "Dead Island", without the walkthrough I would probably still stucked somewhere in the middle...
