Pokemon (VG) Main Characters

For anyone who has played the Pokemon video games for Gameboy from 1st Generation to 5th Generation. There has been a total of 11 different main protagonists throughout all the versions. I would like to know, who is/are your favorite playable character.

The list of protagonists & the version (from left to right):

- Kris (from Crystal)
- Ethan (from Gold, Silver, HeartGold, & SoulSilver)
- Lyra (from HeartGold & SoulSilver)
- May (from Ruby, Sapphire, & Emerald)
- Brendan (from Ruby, Sapphire, & Emerald)
- Lucas (from Diamond, Pearl, & Platinum)
- Dawn (from Diamond, Pearl, & Platinum)
- Hilda (from Black & White)
- Hilbert (from Black & White)

My favorite is Red (he is the original character from the very beginning of the Pokemon VG and he has a serious appearance that makes him a far better male character than the ones after him). Hilda is my other favorite (she really shows off the sexy adventurous type outfit with the jean shorts, black vest, baseball hat and boots. She also has the longest hair than any of the other female characters).

The original Red, all the fucking way. Not even his pussy re-design in FR/LG and HG/SS.



He's THAT badass.

Kris was my favourite. When Crystal came out I constantly had her as my character for three reasons:

1) I liked the blue theme she had. Her backpack, her general character palette etc.
2) The Surfing "Lapras" she had was blue, which looked 10x better than a red one.
3) The option of having another character which didn't look like Red.

I like calling them by their manga names.

Brendan from Ruby always carries a place in my heart. Mostly because Ruby is the only game who's Pokedex I completed.

Just sayin, Gold and Ethan are two different characters in terms of the games.

Blue is my personal fav., cuz she has spunk; probably the sexiest character in the cast. I strongly dislike Black and White for being boring characters, though they do have a good design. Ruby and Sapphire weren't the best designed characters but they have a good personality. I liked how they're the only characters that actually have a strong relationship with eachother; the rest are just taking it very slow or too dense to realize it. Gold and Crystal are ok, Gold is kind of a jerk but in a cool way while Crystal is a interestingly strong female character. Gold's design fits his cool style and Crystal's biker short look fitted her strong personality, though that new mario strap outfit is kind of cute after letting it grow on you for a while. Platina and diamond are humorous characters and quite likable; they also have awesome designs for 2 games, their normal wear and winter wear were cool.

Also I can't make any judgements of the game characters by themselves because they were silent protagonists. There wasn't much to the characters most of the time, and only rarely was there a convenient character they spoke to or fought that sort of fleshed out that character. Normally you can only judge the protagonists by their designs only.

Gold(Ethan) is my favorite hands down. The games make him out to be the same as Red but unlike Red, Gold goes through 16 gyms. Neo Team Rocket and Giovanni then beats the Elite Four and Red himself.

The Emerald version of Brendan. That guy had an aura of badass, & unless Im mistaken is the only one other than May to make an actual appearance in the Anime.

I agree, nostalgia can either make or break a games remake and it totally depends on the player. For me i just didn't like the new name for Gold or the Crystal's replacement Lyra.

there was actually a way in the old crystal to change the female color pallet from blue to red and thats how they got Lyra, It involved saveing the game and some other stuff ill try and find it

Really? If so then maybe I can accept the character but its really Lyra's design. I can't really explain it but I just don't like it.
