Funny I've been all into pokemon battling for awhile now an I go on somgon or whatever all the time but I never ran into that well thanks for the link.
You go on Smogon... But you don't know about Shoddy? Dude... What's wrong with you? >_>
It's the best thing to use to test your teams before you actually begin to train them and stuff.

I know a GREAT strategy that can beat ANY pokemon, problem is:its ONLY good for a 1 VS 1 battle.Does it happen to involve a level 1 Ratatta? :D
As Shia said, it doesn't work on Ghost types.

It doesn't have to be a Ratatta. It could be anything that can utilize the FEAR strategy.
Focus Sash, Endevor, Quick Attack, Ratatta... Lol.

That is true, but I think Phanpy does the job much better. Well, not really... Phanpy is cuter though. xD

[spoil]get a pokemon that knows endeavor and quick attack, preferebly a level 1,and equip an item like the focus sash(when attacked it is left with 1 hp)have your opponent attack,if it is a high level it will leave 1 hp,you still be alive because of the focus shash, use endeavor so both you and your opponents hp are the same,at lvl 1,and use quick attack, quick attack ALWAYS goes first, and with your opponent at 1 hp,it will faint.
note:DOESN'T work on ghost types, and is only good ONCE in a battle.

I'll rewrite it to be more awesome.
F.E.A.R. is a strategy that involves a level one Pokemon that can learn Endeavor and a priority type move. A couple examples are Rattata, Mankey, Phanpy, and Chimchar, just to name a few.
To use F.E.A.R., one must equip the Pokemon with a focus sash. This combination is a fearsome one. A strong Pokemon will normally knock out this level one Pokemon in one hit. However, the focus sash will keep it alive. On that same turn, the F.E.A.R. Pokemon should use Endeavor which will match the two Pokemon's HP to one. The next turn, the F.E.A.R. Pokemon should use the Priority move (ie. Quick Attack, Ice Shard, Vacuum Punch) and KO the stronger Pokemon. Priority moves always go first. Fearsome indeed.
However, it is easily countered.
1. Knowledge. If you know about FEAR, you know how it works. You don't do what the trick demands of you.
2. Ghost Types. Endeavor is the key move for this set. However, because it is a normal type attack, it will not harm a ghost type Pokemon. However, Ghost types should still be careful with Scrappy ability Kangaskhan.
3. Using a decreased priority move. This will bring your HP down to 20 or so and the FEAR pokemon down to 1 which is an easy sweep the next turn.
4. HP restoring items (ie Leftovers or a Berry). The FEAR Pokemon will bring them down to 1 HP after the first turn, but the restored HP will not guarantee a KO on the second turn because the FEAR Pokemon will likely be too weak.
5. Pokemon with Priority moves. These Pokemon, because of their much larger level and speed will likely go first ahead of the FEAR Pokemon KOing it the second turn. However, the opponent will be left with just 1 HP.
6. Moves that do damage on entry (ie. Spikes or Stealth Rock). These will render Focus Sash useless resulting in a KO the first turn without anything happening to the opponent. Doduo, Togekiss, and other flying types have immunity to Spikes though.
7. Moves and Abilities that deal damage every turn (ie. Sandstorm or Burn). Like above, these will cancel the Focus Sash's effect. Death to the FEAR. However, Corsola, Phanpy, Wormadam, and Swinub have immunities to Sandstorm with Swinub also having immunities to Hail.
8. The move Knock Off. This move will get rid of the Focus Sash and knock out the FEAR Pokemon at the same time without having to take an Endeavor.
But really.... The best counter to any trick is knowledge.

So is anyone up for a DS to DS pokemon battle?I know you people are out there...
I've got an OK team, I think. We should arrange a time.
I'm still busy with exams (will finish on Nov 20), but a small battle now won't do me harm.
Yeah, that sounds good just drop me a message when your bored and want to have one (Same for everyone) I usually battle LV 100 no ubers or legends but I can make exceptions so what do you normally battle by?

But I usually just test my teams against themselves, but turns out I cant download it anyway though cause I gotta mac.

No need to double post. There is an edit button... Anyway....
Shoddy should have no problems running on a Mac as it uses Java, so it really doesn't matter what OS you have. You shouldn't make excuses.
And I don't understand your rule with Legendaries. I understand ubers, but legendaries. There are a ton of non-legendaries that are much stronger than legenaries. ie. Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross.
Typing and state distribution doesn't help legendaries much either. Check out Celebi with a whopping 7 different weaknesses.
Not to mention the sheer number of other Pokemon in the OU arena that would devastate many legendaries.
While Legendaries are strong, they're not really that good unless you know what you're doing, which really is everything... A team of powerful Pokemon will never beat a Pokemon team as I can probably demonstrate with my team.

The same as you.
And as Shia says, Shoddy works on a Mac. I use a Mac, after all.

Typing and state distribution doesn't help legendaries much either. I mean check out celebi with a whopping 7 different weaknesses.
Not to mention the sheer number of other Pokemon in the OU arena that would devastate many legendaries.

I'm sorry that double posting bugs you so much. I have limited time on my computer cause of college and I was trying to respond to multiple people didnt want my post to look crowded. But I mean there is a post button so...
Spoiler:
Anyway...
An I'm not making excuses. I had a friend who said it wouldent work on a mac and since most things dont work on macs I figured it wouldnt. Besides I have all the pokemon I want trained and egg moved already so I really dont need it at the moment.
Ugh the reason I say no legends is because if I dont I get a person who comes into the match with four legends on his team of six pokemon. I dont care what strategy you have going thats just unfair. An yeah your right legends arnt really good unless you know what your doing.... Wait most pokemon arnt good unless you know what your doing.
Battling people from Smogon usually know what there doing. And there not battling with Celibi's who have 7 weakness's. There battling with Cresselia, Suicune, Uxie,an Latias which are vastly stronger and harder to counter than non-legendary pokemon and fit nicely into almost any team.
I also like how you use Tyranitar, Salamence, Metagross as examples. The non-legend pokemon that all hit 600 on the base stat. Other than Dragonite, Slaking, and Garchomp there arnt any other non legends to hit those stats. But saying there stronger cause they have higher stats is just wrong look at there weakness's. Tyranitar has I think five weakness's to things like ground and ice type and which is often seen. Same goes for Salamence (So easy to counter) an Metagross is just as easy. Almost every person with sense has a pokemon on there team (or multiply pokemon) that runs earthquake and ice beam I mean tell me you dont have one I see those moves in every match.
An yeah stats arnt everything but there something. I mean there is no legendary that runs under the base stat of 580. The next non legendary is Arcanine (Thats debatable I suppose though) who hits a base of 555 an is the only one that does after that its 545 then its 540 hmmm thats alot weaker than 580. Most of those legends are going to take more hits than most other OU pokemon with that stat difference.
Most pokemon dont even hit a 540 base stat. If you have a EV trained Suicune it's going to beat alot of what comes out at it opposed to a Kingdra or anything lower it only has two weakness to. Come now even Uxie only has three weakness's. And there not even weakness's that are very common (bug, dark, ghost.)
You dont need to critique me on my reasons. I've spent a long enough time playing the game to know the pro an cons of legends and non legends. I simply think that most legends are an are abused in battling and take the fun out of the game I think I have valid reason to say so to. Hence why I say no legends.
I mean if you need to have a match with legends just let me know I'll use some legends to. I'd said I usually play by no ubers or legends. Just let me know if you want to use legends I'd just perfer that we dont.
