They disliked it because they mistook The Onion's satire as a typical fake trailer due to their lake of basic human intelligence and got all butthurt about it. In short, they're complete idiots that can't take a well written joke.

Back to the subscription thing, according to something from activision, the premium subscription gives players the ability to track their in-game statistics thoroughly and watch special game help and official videos. There's also a social feature to meet gamers like you and connect with them. I don't know anything about maps, but I'm pretty sure they wont leave non premium members out because I assure you they want our money. We may just have to wait longer like the PSN does for map packs. So far the feature sounds totally retarded to me and only for the truest of tryhards and fans, or people who have money to blow out their ass.
