Possible United States Xbox 360 Ban

Geez, here I was trying to stir this topic up so that more people could contribute and I only recieved two responses? Eh, anyway I could really care less if this ban happens or not since I only play the 360 at my friends place. But I highly doubt this will happen to the 360. Microsoft's xbox console is to big of a name to be banned by a company that I believe became defunct a while ago. All I can see is that their will be a shitload of pissed 360 fans marching through D.C. and demanding they toss the ban out. Yes I am a fan of Sony's ps consoles, but I do respect some of the 360's games (Halo, Left 4 Dead, and the first Mass Effect). I probably would have bought a 360 if it wasn't for the RRoD popping up on a ton of my friends 360's. I swear, my cousin ad to send his 360 in 5-6 times after hhe bought it. Anyway, I hope this clears up my thoughts on the issue.

Lol are Microsoft fan here??? In this case, it shown that Microsoft is the faulty one. They tried to sued Motorola for changing their patent rules(that is accepted by all other company.) Which is why Motorola counter sued them here.

Except Microsoft shares the creation patent for the creation of the h.264 codec with five other companies. Same with sony.

This is pretty nuts, suddenly glad I'm living in Canada. Though kind of odd timing. If this goes in the worst direction just pushes Microsoft to push out their next console even sooner and make sure there are no problems.

So many fanboys here, I don't see a reason why they should, they're banning because it plays H.264? Well whoop-de-fucking-doo, that makes total sense?

I'd prefer they just demand damages and changes to the Xbox 360 models. You know, for Microsoft to use its own WiFi in a new line of 360 models.
Banning it is going quite far, but then again, this is corporate warfare and if they have real evidence Microsoft did steal from them, the heads at Motorola can bend Microsoft over a bench and have their way with it (to an extent).

I wouldn't count on Obama being a reasonable sort here, and I can almost bet money that the verdict will really come down to "which one stimulates my cockthe economy more", or something like that. I doubt the Xbox 360 will be banned, but Microsoft is going to pay for this. Big time.

Just reading this thread shows how petty some people are--and by that, I mean the fact that the original post asked for people's opinions on the hypothetical ban, and on the first page at least two people who said they didn't mind or admitted to being a PS3 user who hopes the XBOX gets banned were -repped for it.

Personally, I don't give half a fuck if the Xbox 360 gets banned. It's not the first time Microsoft has blatantly ripped off someone else's technology, and it certainly won't be the last. The next gen Microsoft console has promised some pretty unique and interesting shit, however, and I would very much enjoy seeing Microsoft deliver on those promises, because it sounds like a gaming dream come true.

Also, rereading the thread, I think a lot of people are misunderstanding the topic. This isn't a potential ban on the 360 as a console, this is a potential ban (more of a cease and desist order, really) on Microsoft using Motorolla technology in the Xbox 360. Consumers already possessing an Xbox 360 would most likely be unaffected by said ban unless Microsoft decided to be a capitalist douchewad and changed XBL to support alternative hardware in such a way that it necessitated that owners of old Xbox 360s upgrade to the newer model at cost.

I doubt it will be affected because I don't expect the XBOX 720 to use Motorolla's technology.

Halo 4 coming out in few months. o.o If xbox360 somehow gets banned before halo 4 comes out.

I don't really care either way if it gets banned. If it does, then oh well. If not, it's not like I really suffer. All I'll be missing out on would be DeathSmiles and MineCraft, since those are all the (console) exclusives I play on it.
