Before you contemplate playing Chrono Cross, you really should play Chrono Trigger; JUST DON'T PLAY CHRONO TRIGGER ON THE PSX, THE LOAD TIMES ARE GHASTLY. Open a menu, load. Go to a new screen, load. Initiate a battle, load. Try to attack in a battle, load. Your enemy tries to attack, load. Equip something, load. A cut scene attempts to fire up, LOAD. I kid you not, and you must get where I am going.

Chrono Trigger is a great game and deserves some solid respect, so either play it on the SNES or on the DS. The DS version has all the PSX cut scenes, so that is certainly a way to get the best out of Chrono Trigger. Out of the two though I like SNES better myself just due to the more raw translation from DeJap's rom. Use an emulator and rom if you must, but this RPG is a timeless classic.
