PSP and the PSVita
What will happen?

It's come to my attention that a lot of games for the PSP are popping in even though the PS Vita is going to sell big soon.(Or maybe it's just cuz I only pay attention to the Sony Handheld System news and not anything else)
Are they intending to continue adding games to BOTH the PSP and the PSP Vita?
I personally do hope they continue to add some games to the PSP even after the PSVita is out and is much more powerful than the PSP, but not forever though however for a good certain amount of time. And I can't imagine just abandoning Kana(the name for my PSP, the backstory of it will be for another day) right after I get the PSVita. I do somewhat enjoy the graphics on the PSP however excited for the PSVita's specs but still somewhat not ready to switch and instead hope for some PSP games.
What are your thoughts and opinions on this topic?

Even though the Vita will be so much more epic than the PSP, I don't think it would be economically viable - or even intelligent - for Sony to pull the plug on the PSP straight away. Just like with the PS2, they'll probably - I don't know if this confirmed or not - allow PSP games to be played on the most recently released Vitas, only to phase out that ability later. When that time comes, they'll then cut the PSP from themselves and focus entirely on the Vita when it becomes cheaper to make, therefore cheaper to sell, and therefore more owners.

UMD is a dead format, although Sony has said they have been thinking of a way for UMD gamers to use their games on the Vita, Id personally like to see that, but im not holding my breath. They have said that downloadable PSP games will be available for the Vita, so all the games on your PSN account should carry over, but I think they will stop making games for the PSP when the Vita comes out.

No, development for PSP games won't stop immediately. Like usual there's going to be 2-4 years before development stops. Game developers needs time to prepare themselves before they jump into a new console/handheld.

Also, something like this isnt new. Older systems have always continued to have games made for them for awhile even after newer consoles were released. It's been this way since the NES, when Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo were released. The NES still had some game releases before game development stopped entirely. The same from SNES to N64, and so on and so forth.
So yeah, the PSP will defintely still recieve some title releases, even in 2012. Hell, Black Rock Shooter is supposed to be released stateside/internationally in 2012 I believe.

The PSP will still get games made for it even after the Vita comes out, same as with the PS2 and PS3. Though Sony did say that they would make a lot of the PSP games available on the PSN network to be downloaded to the Vita as time goes on.

It doesnt really matter to me, the only thing that goes through my head when I hear about this is, a waste of money.

There are some great games coming to both consoles, but Vita will sell for real start selling is when CFW for it start coming out on the internet.

[sarcasm]I'm medicated so I can't predict the future anymore[/sarcasm]. However my best guess is that new PSP games will come out at least until viva la vita has sales that are equal to or surpasses the older model.

They'll still make for both. Just look at the PS2. People like myself still play it and there are still games made for it after all of these years. PSP won't go down that easy.

i'm probably gonna stick myself to PSP.
if there's a stronger reason to buy PSVITA,then i'll buy it.

This.
I expect handhelds to have backwards compatibility as well, and well sony has been really bad about that in the past. I want to cut down on the number of electronics not multiply it due to having the majority of my library unplayable on a new device.

Alot of psp games have a dump game data on their umd system data.. you could just transfer it to the vita and play or all your games downloaded from PSN will be working on it too.. plus it just five days after the launch someone will cfw or henpeck the fucker.
