Rance 1 Quest for Hikari English Translation

I had already uploaded this to fakku, but in the crash the topic was deleted. So here it is again.

This is the first Rance game from alicesoft. Made in 1989.

Translation done by people at the Rance translation project.

1) Words going out of the text box and staying there
2) The map turning red (just do an action to make it normal again)
3) A few images that have not been edited due to their ancient format.

Rance 2 (Remake) is fully translated and in the editing stage. I am a little behind on getting the edited imaged packed back into the game so that may delay it or we might just release it quick without edited images.

If enough people want me too I can make a topic on how to edit alicesoft games. I have a life so unless enough people want me to do it, I will not make a topic.

Awsome job on the translation thought it played well. Did not think i would get to play the first since it came out a long time ago. I do not have a lot of free time but i am interested how to edit games games. So i will keep checking back if you do post how to edit them. Keep up the good work.

Sweet, finished last night. The graphics are god awful, especially the monsters but its an old game and it was nice to play the first adventure of Rance. Can't wait for the Rance 2 remake to released. keep up the good work guys.

How can I use the item called BGM or it's just a trap to rip my money like

Yes the graphics are old. It is really depressing because when you fight a gold hanny it says "made in china" on it, but we can't change it because the image are stored as .vsp files I believe (not my area of expertise).

Since I played rance sengoku (7) I had curiosity for the older games, and the characters they appear on it, so i guess i'll give this a try, thanks

The OP did include a Walkthrough for a reason and to quote it:

"Go back to the first room (the lobby). Look at the clock if you haven't already, then turn the clock's hands. If there is no option to turn the clock, go back to the third room on the second floor and read the diary again before coming back down to try again." Worked for me just fine.

Let me rephrase my previous statement about hacking VNs. Regular VNs have zero security compared to alicesoft games. Alicesoft created their own storage and encryptions and put them on just about everything in the game except dlls (which are useless). AND, they change the encryptions every time they get a new system, so system 3.5 is different from 3.9 which is different from 4.0 which is slightly different from 4.2 (Rance 2 system). SO, no tools work on the same games unless they run on the same system, which make me so MAD!!!

Alicesoft is diabolical. They are the reincarnation of Mephistopheles. I had to write my own tools and edit existing ones in order to get into Rance 2. It took FOR FUCKING EVER!

Anyway, if you do not want to translate a alicesoft game there are basic tools that should work for most games. I am too lazy to post where to find them so go search for them yourself. Hongfire would probably be a good place to start.
