Recommend Me some RPGs for PS2
0
Well, I started playing Dragon Quest VIII again on my PS2 and I totally got hooked on it. But unfortunately, I'm nearly the end of the game.
I was hoping for some more recommendations for some similar types of RPG found on the PS2 or DS (I only have those two systems).

Would be nice to know what else you played before, or else we write up a shitstorm and you even played all of them.
If you like round-based RPGs, try these:
Suikoden 5
Xenosaga (just the first part to see if you like it)
Persona 3 and 4, basically a must-play for RPG enthusiasts in my book.
Wild Arms 3 and 5, both killer games.
Shadow Hearts (especially the second)
Final Fantasy X (pretty low on my list though)

Okie dokie. Since Persona 3 and 4 were the most recommended, I made some bids over eBay for them. Thanks everyone.

Unfortunately, I only have enough in my paypal account to get either Persona 3 or Persona 4. Which one should I get?

Persona 4 is the better game overall.
That said, some people will find Persona 3 harder to play after having played P4 because of some gameplay details, like other party members not being controlled by the player in P3.
But I say buy P4.

I wish I had been here earlier since it seemed that you got bombarded with JRPGs and I had a few WRPGs that you might have enjoyed.
But you already made your choice so from those 2 Im going to agree with the fine young member above me and say Persona 4.

Having played both Persona 3 and 4, I would recommend 4 for the more casual player that doesn't wants to have questions answered for them quickly. If you have more patience and think you can manage the more challenging Persona 3 (FES preferably), then by all means do so, since it has a much deeper story to it, and I found myself to enjoy it better than Persona 4, especially over the course of the Social Links.

Since no one said about it, when you can ,try .Hack//G.U. Trilogy, the gameplay may be a little repetitive but it got one of the coolest story i have ever seen, and i say that with pride, since i played like almost every english rpg games for Snes/PSX/PS2 and a lot of visual novels.

Since most people are recommending PS2 games, I'll do some DS ones aswell:
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor (Grid based mixed with classic turn base RPG gameplay)
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey (Only if you like oldschool first person dungeon crawlers)
Etrain Odyssey (Only if you like oldschool first person dungeon crawlers)
Infinite Space (Only if you enjoy games that kick your ass)
Mario & Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story (I haven't played it but it is meant to be good)
Pokemon: any of them (You probably know if you like pokemon or not already)
Thats all I can think of at the moment
