I was gonna get the 20gig backwards compatible one, but people tell me they break more often then the others. Is this true?
Can I get some feedback on which one is the best?

I don't know about breaking ,since I RARELY hear people complain about PS3 breaking in the first place.
But if you can get that earlier version, and you think you didn't get ripped off, well GO FOR IT.

Look at the comparison, and choose which one do you think is best suited.
Since I can only afford the First edition of the PS3 Slim, I don't have any knowledge about "which is better".

I got a pre-owned backwards compadible from Gamestop about a year ago. It constantly froze on me and eventually refused to turn on properly.
So I took it back and just got the 250gig.
But on the other hand I know someone who's had the PS3 since it came out and hers still works fine.
Kind of up to you to choose. If you have the ability to take the system back if it breaks, then go ahead and get it.
If you don't... well I'm not for it. But it's you choice in the end.

If you get the chance, go and get a backwards one, test it out for a bit and make sure it works, You can always get certain HDD's to make them bigger.
Getting a Slim would be an awesome choice too, less USB slots but awesome none the less.
Hope this helped a bit.

Get the 60 gig version, it comes with better features. If your just interested in compatibility than make sure you check the model number. CECHA01(60gig), CECHB01(20gig), and CECHE01(80gig) are the only ones that come with full backward compatiblity. I believe that all systems can play some old psone games. Also the 80gig version has a more limited compatibility than the 20 and 60gig versions. I've had mine(60gig) since it was released and haven't had any issues.

well, backwards compatibility doesn't really bother me, since I still have my PS2 and PSX connected besides my PS3. lol
the emulator for PS2 is great now, FYI.

The main problem you will have with that PS3 model is that sometimes the updates PSN network will distribute will totally bust your system since most updates are designed for the newer slim type of PS3s, I even remember the rumours that some fat ype PS3s already get the yellow flash of death.

Kaimax is right, PCSX2 runs like a dream with minor bugs and glitches. Just check your rig though; as long as your system requirements meet with it, you're good to go. No need to spend money for an outdated PS3 unless if you insist or you don't have a strong PC.

I only use PCSX2 for Dual Layer PS2 games.. since it's kinda complicated to burn a Dual Layer game... (ie: Sakura Wars 5: So Long, My Love) I spent like $4 on DVD DL, and it failed lol...

Make sure you buy an extra hard drive too because 20GB is not much. DLC, game data, and updates really take a lot of space.

Little Big Planet,
ModNation Racers,
The new Twisted Metal (when it comes out),
and Zone of the Enders 3 (when it comes out.)
Otherwise as far as I'm concerned, I don't even have a PS3.
To everyone else: Thanks for the feedback, it really helped!

You buy PS3 just to play LBP and modnation?
are you serious, at least try MGS4,or Uncharted .
Both LBP and Modnation have PSP version, why bother buying PS3?

Very fun game, the game has graphics like a Studio Ghibli filmBut my priority is still Twisted Metal and Zone of the Enders.
