Star Wars Knight of The Old Republic Help!

I know this sounds like an odd place to ask question like this but i need your help,i was having crashing problem when i was playing KOTOR 1 at the Jedi Enclave right after i built my lightsaber.The crash happen when i was opening the skill menu,its like every time i clicked it it'll crash to desktop and says The Program is not responding..

here is my system build:
Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Core i5 2450m 2.5 GHz with turbo boost up to 3.1GHz
Nvidia Geforce 610m with 1GB dedicated VRAM
4GB DDR3 RAM
500GB HDD

If youre playing using the disc make sure it isnt too scratched. i had that same problem (but not in the same part of the game) and that was the cause.
