Sudden deletion of VN save games

Well, something odd happened to me. I wanted to read/play a few VNs, I haven't touched for a while, but had to realized that their save games were missing. Like, they vanished, as if I just deleted them, but I'm sure that I didn't (I don't even know where they are).
Does anybody know how this could have happened? I'd consider some odd sort of copy protection, but I own all the VNs that were affected (as far as I can tell, there may be more) by that legally.
Also, can somebody tell me where Snow Sakura, Lightning Warrior Raidy (the first game) and Escalation Yukkuri Panic put their save files on Windows 7? I'd like to backup them this time, but I can't find them.

If they aren't in the installation folder (typically Downloads, but I put all mine in a folder called Visual Novels), then chances are that they're in (C:) --> Program Files (x86). You can also check by right clicking the shortcut icon and selecting "Properties" to find out where the folder is if you're still having trouble. As for why it happened, I've no idea. This hasn't ever happened to me.

So let me rephrase this:
You want to play your old VNs, but for some reason they don't have any save files?
-did you uninstall them prior to this?
This is weird, since this can only happen if those save files were in your "Temp Folder", and this usually only happens to flash games, that doesn't have separate save file.

Basically everything Daggerrise said is correct. Usually when I install my VNs, they're in my C:/Program Files, but when I need to make room for new ones, I put the folder from my C: drive directly into a folder on my desktop named VNs, and move them to a External HD.
But on occasion I forgot to delete the "VNs" folder, and get the urge to play it from that particular folder. The saves of course are gone, but if you move it back to the C: drive the saves should be back!
