Yeah you need to start of with ever-17 first before anything else.
Then if you play TYPE-MOON brand games especially FS/N and Tsukihime.
Then if you like strategy games then finish first Utawarerumono(im amazed on how i can remember the title now w/out studering)Tears To Tiara,Men At Work,Sengoku Rance,BattleMoon Wars and Gadget Trial.
Well thats a good order for me argue with me if im wrong XD

No offense but without playing Ever 17, you can't really appreciate just how powerful these VNs have over one's feelings. Definitely one of the best.
Sengoku Rance is currently the best tactical strategy game yet. The perfect synchronization between battles and H-scenes makes it all too entertainable.
And yes, go get Baldr Sky dammit, it's 11GBs in total but its totally worth the trouble to download that massive installation.
Kira Kira swoops everyone off their feet with one helluva band show, with a story that's very, very well made.
Chaoshead is pretty good, emotional, realistic, depressed, depressed, depressed...

LOL So the standard , er , arrangement is :
Ever 17
Type-Moon
Then strats? xD
Hahaha I feel that it's still a long way before I get to Baldr Sky..
I wanna try ChaosHead .. Doesn't it also have an anime/manga? Do I watch first or VN first? It's VN first right? /heh
Thanks for the replies.

If you start off with the "best" then that would make you biased towards other games. It varies from individual to individual, but I can definitely tell you that after playing the likes of F/SN, Utawarerumono and Ever 17; I definitely hold a standard that makes lesser game not as good. Some quick examples would be Kira Kira, Shuffle and the likes. Great VNs spoil the player.

I think I agree with this. I mean , my first "big" VN was F/SN (i think) and I played Shuffle! a while ago and.... Did not appeal that much. xD . Pretty visuals though.
And I think I will stay away from the Chaos;Head anime .. Eheheheh... The Klown force is just so strong lol.

Utawarerumono. If you don't play it then you'll die an empty person. IT'S THAT AWESOME.It's on my download list. I'm not gonna die an empty person :P

Hmm well, Utawhat-is-it-again didn't appeal to me that much, the storyline was intriguing but er, how do you say? Just didn't make that high up my scoring board.
I just love reading. Gameplay is ever fun but I don't try to get 100% (Unless it's a condition for getting hidden storylines...).
Choashead would be better on VN, totally agree with that. Until now I couldn't understand why I feel moved to tears even though that particular goddam scene didn't feel all that awesome.

No one mentioned Soul Link yet? Cmon, it's a pretty awesome sci-fi vn. It has the perfect amount of "darkness" in it's storyline, yet covers that up with cheery storytelling. That is win in my book. Anyone care to disagree?
On another note, this seems to be one of Manga-Gamers better translations. :)
edit: Sekien no Inganock anybody?

You should really give Kira Kira a shot. It shouldn't be compared to Shuffle which didn't even have a story and has only art as its only selling point.
Other than that pretty much what everyone else said Ever 17, FS/N, Utawarerumono, Clannad, Chaos Head or maybe Planetarian.
