This section really needs a thread for this awesome show/character where the latest, and the old, episodes can be discussed [size=11]For those of you that isn't familiar with this show here's the lowdown:[/h] The Angry Video Game Nerd [size=11](abbreviated as AVGN, occasionally shortened to The Nerd)[/h] is the character of a series of farcical retrogaming video reviews by James D. Rolfe. The show generally revolves around retro game reviews that involve bitter rants against particularly low-quality or poorly designed video games. The series began as a feature on YouTube, and later joined ScrewAttack Entertainment, which would later have three of its features, including the AVGN, transferred to GameTrailers exclusively. The show was formerly known as The Angry Nintendo Nerd, a title that was abandoned to avoid legal issues due to the Nintendo trademark, and because the show started reviewing games on other consoles. The Nerd character is an ill-tempered and foul-mouthed video game fanatic. He derives comic appeal from excessive and inventive use of profanity, frequent displays of explicit gestures, and heavy consumption of beer, particularly Rolling Rock or Yuengling. A particular characteristic, which has become something of a trademark of his character, is for him to describe, in great detail, extremely repulsive and painful, usually firmly scatological acts, and to claim that he would rather endure them than to play the game that he is reviewing. Varying amounts of physical comedy are mixed into the verbal abuses. With that done, what's your thoughts about the latest [size=11](Little Red Hood)[/h] episode? I personally thought it was kinda average, not bad, but the game wasn't really that interesting either, even though it was clearly just a mass of the random shit we love to see him rage about. The vagina comment at the beginning was probably the best part of the episode Im still waiting for the E.T. episode, seeing as how everyone and their grandma continue to claim that it's the worst game ever made. AVGN doesn't seem to be in a hurry to review it though. [size=10]It also needs more Nerdy Turd[/h]

It's not like I played those games anyway. I'm too young for that.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure he doesn't review games so people can know what to play and what not to play. He does it for comedy, to make people laugh.

That and express how people feel about the games.

He has even admitted that some of the game he reviews are not even that bad.

I can't see the Nerd as a guy speaking out for all the gamers. I mean, who the hell has even seen half the games he reviews, let alone played them?

It's comedy, plain and simple. No one cares about NES games that were played by a grand total of 50 people.

From his FAQ:

Remember this is for comedy. Sure my gripes with the games stem from truth, but they are exaggerated. The whole point is to play bad. If you want to see somebody play good, go watch a speed run. If you take my reviews seriously, you are missing the whole point. Think for yourself. I may actually like some of the games I’m complaining about. I only focus on the negative. When I think back to the Castlevania 2 video, it was just a quick little video I made one night when I was bored, just for a little joke, and there’s real “Angry Nerd’s” getting mad about it. It’s funny how people usually see videos on YouTube and take them at face value. The same people probably believe that I go around in real life, wearing a white pressed shirt, stuffed with pens in the pocket, and saying “fuck” all the time and talking about buffallos taking diarrhea dumps.
