Regardless of this list i still like Game Informers top 100Definitely a better list. Not quite my top 100, but I don't expect it to be anyway. At least that list actually makes sense. (The lack of NetHack always disappoints me on these lists, though. 8))

*clears throat* I'm really wondering how exactly they came to this decision. Was this based on popular gamer consensus or was it just something Guiness threw up?

We conducted a survey of 13 000 people Believe it or not, truth is harsh .. just let it slip .. if you have your best then you wouldn't care about this list ..
Subjective things are subjective
sadly, the truth is, they probably conducted the survey with random unknown people who do not even play much games >>;

Where's Plants Vs. Zombies? And Age of Empires 3?
Are you serious? First of all Age of Empires II is the revulutionary in that series
and plants vs zombies is fun and all, but doesn't top even on a top 500 list

Not serious. Just wanted to say Plants Vs. Zombies. And who cares about that whole AoE crap?

Popular consensus makes sense though. It explains why so many newer games are all the way at the top while so many 'critical' hits aren't even mentioned.

Lol at everyone's responses on this thread. Your opinion =/= the majority's opinion. Get over it.
I'm surprised to see a Lego game in there though.
For those that hate on Halo: You have to understand that Halo is not liked because of its revolutionary FPS changes or its (nonexistent) storyline. It was its popularization of the console's multi-player genre. Even if you hate the game, its hard to deny that it was the best FPS multi-player on the console in its day.

I was being sarcastic for the most part. the game is...... yeah, the whole concept is for you to live as a wolf and hunt with your pack (it's an mmo). You can do stuff like pee on eachother and on trees to mark your territory. I played it with 3 - 4 friends just for shits and giggles, you need to do it with friends so you can laugh properly at it.
Oh also, taking down a moose = fukken srs bzness, but i need to feed my pups.
There's a ton of furry ERP that goes down here also, Haha.

Total Annihilation could have been in the Top 100 in my opinion.
It was one of those first 3d stylish games where the terrain can actually work for one's advantage.. High hill's to stay covered from that enemy artillery.
Sure the game's camera was fixated in one spot, but it was a change that affected nearly all RTS's in the future, using the environment properly to you'r own advantage.
In AoE1/2, C&C and RA1, higher terrain just needed separate access point for units to reach there but gave practically minimal strategic advantage, Bottlenecking.
In TA, by building a base to higher ground allows better firing position for artillery units and shields somewhat from the fire from lower ground.
Disadvantage on this? Vulnerable to aerial assaults and nukes. Didn't see that in the RTS's on that time next to this game.
